- Comment on Apple to Soon Take Up to 30% Cut From All Patreon Creators in iOS App 1 week ago:
I was actually curious how this currently works as I’ve never used the Patreon app, so thanks for that. I’m sure it’s a nice convenience to be able to transact through the app, but not 30% passive Apple income levels of nice. It’s too bad they are stuck in their flat-rate commission model, because alienating third-party developers and businesses in this manner will kill their ecosystem.
Can any current creators on Patreon provide some insight into how the revenue streams break down between the iOS/Android app platforms versus the website? What impact do you foresee if instead of a payment option in the app it simply directs you to the website?
- Comment on Trump’s acting cyber chief uploaded sensitive files into a public version of ChatGPT 1 week ago:
Yeah, he really should know better, but why were the necessary controls not in place to prevent the C-suite from doing stupid things? I know it’s not possible to eliminate all risk, but enterprise-level DLP should really have caught this.
- Comment on How/why does Microsoft teams exist? 1 week ago:
Yes, I was only half joking about that.
If you are ever so inclined, you can look at the Microsoft Graph API logging for some of the O365 services like Teams, there is a field in there that logs if Copilot was even mentioned in the transaction, let alone actually used.
Seems like in many cases you can easily game the system to show how much you’ve embraced Ai.
- Comment on How/why does Microsoft teams exist? 1 week ago:
Ah yes, the live preview… that would be nice to have but I don’t imagine Teams would ever implement this degree of granularity in customization.
If you end up submitting a feature request, make sure to tag it with “ai” and “copilot” so there’s at least some tiny chance someone will look at it ;)

Are you on macOS 26 Tahoe? The lack of text cursor is something I’ve noticed with Liquid Glass (also on iOS). I’m not sure if it’s a bug or by design, but either way it’s annoying and not intuitive.
Regarding markdown formatting, it works just fine for me. Is there a setting somewhere you need to toggle?

Everything this guy has ever done is transactional in nature, and he’s openly admitted the agenda for Venezuela. It’s wild how many Venezuelans haven’t come to this realization yet.
A lot of Americans hate DJT but if a foreign power abducted him and his wife, superseded the line of succession to assume control, and expressed interest to harvest natural resources, I don’t think it’d go over so well.

I would gladly dissolve the gaming division of Netflix for another couple seasons of Mindhunter. I miss the days when quality content was king, not portfolio diversity.

I like this attitude. It reminds me of how I get through some days at work by remembering that it’s all for the fam.
Still, it will be nice to look back on the good old days (now) from a comfortable chair in a quiet house many years from now :D

This has been my biggest pet peeve in the wake of the AWS outage. If you’d built for high-availability and continuity then this event would at most have been a minor blip in your services.

- Comment on A Beginners Guide To Selfhosting Part 1 3 months ago:
I’m ambivalent as to who uses the term and how, but a deviation from the general consensus of its definition might cause confusion for newcomers to the field who can’t make the distinction. That said, I enjoyed OPs post and appreciate the time they put into it.
Homelab on the other hand is not synonymous with self-hosted infrastructure and services, as its intended use is not for production workloads.
- Comment on A Beginners Guide To Selfhosting Part 1 3 months ago:
I wrestled with whether or not I should be that guy, but self-hosting by definition generally means everything down to the bare metal, i.e. not a VPS.
I can understand how the term could apply to the broader definition of running your own services on managed infrastructure, but it seems odd not to make that distinction in a beginners guide.
