How dare you, Greg would never abandon his child because he was adopted.
No, he’s going to do it because he harbors deep resentment for what he became, what he could’ve been. Any time someone perceives him feels like a metaphorical slap across his face, not unlike the real physical one he in his wrathful impotence inflicted onto Laura.
Greg needs therapy, but he’s only getting it later in his 50s because I enjoy imagining pathetic people. It’s very normal do not think into it.

If I’d be stuck doing this, I’d start writing personalities for the alts.
This Xiaomi 10s is Greg, his wife Lauren (Pixel 3a) left him because he slapped her eleven years into their marriage. He begged her to come back, but Lauren is too afraid to end up like her friend Emy (Galaxy with flickering screen), to get caught up in the cycle of “leave-forgive”. The ladies are meeting on Friday, posting similar pictures of wine glasses into their feeds.
Greg sees his son twice a month (an iphone, the small one they stopped making awhile ago). Lately he can’t seem to get rid of the thought that he’s not doing it because he wants to, but because “that’s what fathers do”. The next visit will be his last, he’ll switch to sending cards and start posting racist shit about Mamdani.
- Comment on Firefox is Getting a New AI Browsing Mode 2 weeks ago:
Are they jonesing for openai giving them another google-sized payout? Otherwise I don’t get the rationale, the overlap of their users and people wanting ai browser is one freshman from California? Not to mention Firefox has nowhere near enough cash to burn on this thing to compete with AI companies doing the exact same thing.
(obligatory “ai, ew")
- Comment on Former Microsoft engineer explains why Windows 'sucks' now 2 weeks ago:
“So, does Windows suck,” he asks rhetorically. “Only when it forgets who it’s working for…”
I’d argue that it remembers it very well at all times. MS indicated very clearly that its target audience are non-technical, preferably business users that they can mine for data. Windows fully reflects that, fixing what this dude is talking about is making the product worse
Even if they wanted to pivot, selling a standalone twice a decade is just not going to cut it anymore, you won’t get trillions of dollar in valuations like that.
That’s what Windows will be
foreveruntil they find a more fucked up way yo extract money out of people. - Comment on What if we were *just a lil evil*? 2 months ago:
Being an ad-driven company annihilated old google. Instead of developing precise and efficient tools (like they used to) all effort goes to convincing users to care about random crap, because the crapmaker is paying up.
As a programmer who enjoys a beautiful solution to a hard problem, this irks me every time I’m forced to interface with google.

I'd love to listen to someone rant about web design now and then, practices changed so much in 25 years

Setting aside freedom of speech (as UK already did) why would you raid a suspect in a nonviolent crime with no material evidence to seize? Why not just send a summons?
Though I can answer my own question: state terror campaign to scare population into submission
- Comment on GitHub will be folded into Microsoft proper as CEO steps down 3 months ago:
I was afraid MS would keep it as an 'independent' service while syphoning data out of it. Buut looks like it entered the 'ravenous extraction' phase of enshitification, hopefully it accelerates market share loss.

It would upset me, but holy crap what a topic for the first half an hour of the date. Will get you right through the awkward phase!

So, wild story, my dad set this date. Can you believe this crap? I have no idea what he put in the profile, hopefully nothing too cringe. He said I love trains?? FFS you make ONE model train when you're 12, and you're a "train girl" forever. Honestly I almost no-show, but you didn't deserve being stood up..
Anyway, wanna vent about stupid shit your parents did?_ - Comment on UK households could face VPN 'ban' after use skyrockets following Online Safety Bill 4 months ago:

It's something russia has been doing for a decade and got pretty good at.
A long term blanket vpn ban is not compatible with a modern digital infrastructure, but with certain protocols (openvpn, wireguard) they can detect their usage and filter them out when necessary.
It does require a lot of expensive DPI (deep packet inspection) hardware I'm not sure UK has, so building a Great Firewall of Britain (Hadrian's Firewall?) will take some time.
