Okay, understood, so the idea is that the device connects to the streaming service independently and the PC client acts as a glorified remote. Sad that it doesn't work.
Would it work with the mobile tidal app? Just curious, since that might be better as a "remote" than a static desktop pc.
- Comment on Third of UK teenagers who vape will go on to start smoking, research shows 2 days ago:
But how are the numbers of current vapers+smokers vs old smokers? Maybe 30% of capers is comparable to old 100% of smokers since vaping is more accepted. This is an incomplete headline. Maybe the article has more hard data.
We are also ignoring the bunch of vapers that will keep vaping the rest of their life, throwing chemicals and water into your lungs is not a good thing, I bet we are gonna see long term issues of excessive vapour exposure in lungs in some years.

Yeah I know of the AUR package, in fact I checked right before writing xD, that's the "user built stuff" I mentioned, since the AUR is the Arch User Repository after all.
About the Wiim, I'm reading about it for the first time but it seems like it's a LAN based audio device, right? I bet there's some Linux application that is able to connect to it and create a virtual output device you can pick for the tidal app, or any other audio.
Me from the future before posting the comment: Yeah no, I checked, there isn't. That's weird because Wiim does have an open API to send an audio stream into it so you should be able to create an audio stream from any app and then link them... Like, an app that creates a local audio streaming server, links any app output into that server and then sends it to Wiim via its public API. It should be doable and offer a lot more flexibility, but I guess there's not enough interest for someone to bother doing so. The one doing it should have a WIIM device to test too and the overlap between the people able to do this stuff and the people with a WIIM might not be that big give that's a device that does a lot of stuff for you in theory.

I was referring to you having a "daily recommendations" playlist that just keeps going after it finished by appending similar music, or "radio based on playlist" kinda things. Also, Qobuz's recommendations are way too generic, the lists are hand made for everyone which ironically doesn't cater enough to individual tastes.

uh, same. https://github.com/Mastermindzh/tidal-hifi
In fact spotify doesn't support arch at all, all there is is user built stuff too. You have a flatpak version of spotify but sod o you of tidal-hifi.
Sorry if I sound rude but your jerking of spotify when it offers the same capabilities of user made stuff rubs me the wrong way.

Tidal was originally European but DayZ bought it up so it's technically American now; Qobuz is french but it doesn't have a "brain-dead radio mode". Both have unofficial Linux clients.
Rn I use tidal because it's on the top 3 of the ones that pay the most to artists iirc(quobuz is up there too) and it hasn't had a huge American influence that I know of, but do your own research on the alternatives to see which suits you the most, there are tons of articles about them all.

It's more of a "he's getting paid from the movement and then donating all that pay right back!!!!" Stupidity.

Wait wait they are guesstimating how much would Scott have had to earn from the movement via his volunteer work, and pose that Labor as a donation????? They are a joke. I'm sure they know what volunteer means, with the amount of volunteer overtime that strongly suggest (or else) their workers to do.

well, I wouldn't say that's my case since most of my job postings are of spaniard consultant companies that have projects for banks. Also, data engineering is kinda different from generic software dev, we build data manipulation pipelines, database migrations... etc. Not many end user facing applications or APIs or such, most input/output is databases.

I don't really get the "city" sentiment since I only search for countrywide remote jobs (Spain), but country by country the experience will differ ofc. I also specialised myself really quick into a data based field which is needed since all the fucking banks want to update their 3 decade or older systems. And by the time all of them finish being updated they will need to be updated again sooooo... :)

I work in IT and have no shortage of offers in linkedin. In hiring season it's like 3 a week. I did go to the workforce with a masters though. 5 years of education in total. Also, tbh, I'm a senior dev now (+7 years of experience) so the playing field changes a lot.
Tell your friend to search for startups that don't pay that well just to get the initial 2 years of experience, then jump up.

counterpoint, if that email was problematic with reply all, should have been privately chatted instead. replyall should be the default options because the amount of times in a single chain that i had to answer with something asinine (including xyz again so they can give feedback about it) just to include everyone again... way too many.

I already pay more for my clothes, namely because only specific brands have my sizes. So yeah, my partner pays way less for clothing. Same with shoes, I have a 48eu and I'm forced to buy expensive brands just because, while my partner can buy cheaper shoes with waaay more choices.
What's your point?
