  I think the brilliance of the post is the part where everyone thinks you’re sick and stays away. Plus they won’t care if you’re not acting quite right and people smelling a whiff of alcohol when you open your cough syrup doesn’t set off any alarms.

  Only downside is you can only do it for a day or two before you get sent home or need a doctor’s note, definitely not a great long term cover for alcoholics.

  The identical pairs of changes show that the mutations are being passed on because it’s unlikely to have two identical nearby mutations without inheriting them from the parent.

  This has been basically common sense (simply because damaged DNA would be replicated in a damaged state) for a while but it’s nice to have data. Never know of people’s germ cells and therefore children are being affected until you do the tests.

  Yup you’re totally right. Talked to a girl recently who’s mom was exposed to agent orange in Hawaii and is wondering if she’s facing effects now. DNA damage isn’t just in an individual, it could cause changes in entire societies or even species.

  The stores are told on a corporate level that items need to be stocked on certain shelves and all essential items (milk, eggs, whatever) need to be buried in the back behind anything that’s on sale so customers have to look at everything before getting the basics.

  Workers are people who follow orders and have to live with the chaos and help customers actually find the item they’re looking for even though the company as a whole is the problem

  We just call it gridiron in Australia, plain and simple. Too many other things are called football or “footy”. Soccer obviously, but both rugby league and rugby union (two different sports) as well as Australian rules football (AFL). That’s 4 different sports someone may be referencing when saying football, so American football is just gridiron. NGL indeed
