- Comment on Why does Helldivers 2 have such a bloated install size on PC? Old hard drives, says dev 4 days ago:
So Artyom, I’m going to need you to look at these words carefully ok? You did suggest buying a 1tb SSD, I understand that. But you need to realise that when someone needs to store 4tb worth of stuff it won’t fit in a 1tb drive.
Maybe it would be easier if we work this out with apples? If I’m really really hungry and I want to eat 4 apples, and a shop is selling apples for 30p each, or 4 for £1. It would be cheaper to buy a single apple, but it wouldn’t fill me up. If I buy 4 single apples it’s going to cost me £1.20, which is more than buying a pack of 4. Did that help you?
- Comment on Why does Helldivers 2 have such a bloated install size on PC? Old hard drives, says dev 4 days ago:
And I’m pointing out that people who need 4tb can’t just get a 1tb drive and deal with it, you’re the one who needs to learn to read here
- Comment on Why does Helldivers 2 have such a bloated install size on PC? Old hard drives, says dev 4 days ago:
think about what you just said very carefully, they have a 4tb drive and it costs $60 per tb for a new SSD. You’re expecting people to just drop at least $240 to replace their working hard drive just because it could be a little bit faster. You can get a 4tb HDD for less than the cost of a 1tb SSD.
And just so I’m not going to respond to a second comment separately, yes some people do need all that space. It can take multiple days to install modern titles over my connection, so uninstalling them to install something else isn’t really an option.
- Comment on Why does Helldivers 2 have such a bloated install size on PC? Old hard drives, says dev 4 days ago:
People who still have working HDDs I suppose. I only upgraded my drives to SSDs when they started dying, if they were still working fine I wouldn’t have considered replacing them yet.

If you want to race take it to a track. I understand the urge, but if you want to do that stuff go somewhere where you’re supposed to do it instead of endangering others.

Some websites do, discord offers it as a verification option

The UK has challenge 25 laws that mean that you only need to show ID if you look like you’re under 25. So no you don’t always need to provide ID to purchase alcohol, at least not in puritan shitholes.
- Comment on Stop Killing Games update - UK petition to see a debate in Parliament 2 weeks ago:
At least they actually agreed to debate this one, when the petition against the online safety act hit 5 times the minimum votes to be debated in less than 2 days they refused to even bring it up.

Your point is? No one is forced to listen to your opinions but you aren’t prevented from having them if you run your own instance.
- Comment on [deleted] 3 weeks ago:
“Lemmy” can’t ban people, people managing an instance can ban people. And yes it is ok to ban people for breaking the rules of a community or even an instance. If you have a problem with the rules on an instance go and create your own, that’s one of the core reasons Lemmy is federated.

everyone seems to be jumping on how shit of an idea this is and that we just need more trees, but the point of this is that they can directly sequester the carbon back into the ground. Yes you can plant a lot of trees but when those trees die and rot away the carbon just ends up straight back in the atmosphere, you need to actually bury it to stop it re-entering the atmosphere again.
- Comment on If they wanted to do a gender-swapped Doctor Who, without it being the absolute pile of dogshit that is the BBC's current attempt, Fern Brady would be an immaculately perfect choice 1 month ago:
Current attempt? You mean the attempt from 5 years ago or the one that isn’t happening for another year?
- Comment on [[TheGamer]] Forza Horizon 6 Setting Potentially Leaked By Australian Car Company 1 month ago:
Guess it depends if they’re scanning them as player cars or npc cars. I guess they already have bubble cars but idk if they’d add kei cars as player cars

Someone better tell the team sending out letters to game stores then, because they seem more than happy to tell stores to block LGBT games

I just found that mod earlier and for some reason it just isn’t activating for me. Everything’s enabled in mod settings and I’ve got all the requirements but nothing’s changed.

I wish I did, I don’t dream so for me it’s pretty much just skipping anywhere from 6 to 10 hours and suddenly it’s the next morning.

Mid life? I’m still in uni and my offline friend group is pretty much just my girlfriend’s friends who are into tech. Tbf that’s mostly down to me being too introverted to talk to anyone though.

I was almost in a car crash once because I clipped a puddle and almost spun through a wall. No it was not a calm experience.
- Comment on The name "seagull" implies the existence of landgulls, airgulls, and firegulls. 3 months ago:
I used to study animal management and there was a lecturer who wrote his uni thesis on “seagulls” and any time he heard someone call them seagulls he’d shout down the hallway “They’re herring gulls!”
- Comment on The problem with adding forgery prevention features to paper money is that people could just forge the old version of the bill. 3 months ago:
There’s an overlap where both are valid for a few months and you can trade them in at post offices and banks but after that period is up it’s just tough luck I guess
- Comment on The problem with adding forgery prevention features to paper money is that people could just forge the old version of the bill. 3 months ago:
Yeah in the UK old currency is fazed out in less than a year. £1 coins changed in 2016 and it only took a few months till the old design was invalid
- Comment on The problem with adding forgery prevention features to paper money is that people could just forge the old version of the bill. 3 months ago:
That’s why old currency isn’t valid after it’s been changed though? That’s why most countries have swapped to plastic notes at the same time as adding anti forgery things.

It’s cool that we’re getting vanilla SOS2 but I’ve always been kinda annoyed when devs make a dlc that’s pretty much just taking something that existed for free and charge for the “official” version
