- Comment on Transgender, nonbinary and disabled people more likely to view AI negatively, study shows 1 week ago:
I’m none of those however I believe they are right to view it negatively. The rest of us should be just a wary.
- Comment on Socially inept, introverted employees. How do you survive the workplace? Because I’m in dire need of some serious advice. 1 week ago:
Skill to do a job is important. However it seems that many younger people do not believe that interpersonal skills are a necessary skill because they haven’t learned them. Some have much more difficulty learning them or are completely unable to learn them due to neuro differences. They have a choice to either learn interpersonal skills or find work that is isolated where others don’t have to interact with them directly in order to do their jobs. Workplace accommodations can only go so far in helping if other people must interact with them in order to do their jobs. People in the workplace have always had to figure out how to work effectively with others. If they cannot, they have had to find other types of work that don’t require working directly with people. What’s new is expecting others to conform to individual needs instead of individuals conforming to the groups needs. Could you take a socializing class to learn the basics and get out of your current comfort zone? Your coworkers don’t need you to become their best friend but they do need to feel that they are not working with a robot. (I say this as someone who had to figure it out pre-internet. I was labelled Officious & Cold in one of my first employment reviews.)

I had friends 40 years ago in their early 20s that were adamant that they never wanted kids. Some of them stayed that way and are going into retirement childless and most of them are happy with their decision. A few aren’t but can’t do anything about it. The others discovered, that with with right person, they did want kids and are just as happy. Hard to say which you will be. I know a few young women banking eggs in case they change their mind 10+ years from now and want to have biological children. Can you bank sperm to hedge your bet?
- Comment on We all sleep alone soundly; Maybe the key to a happy marriage is separate beds 3 weeks ago:
It took me a few years to convince my partner that sleeping separately would be a good idea. He snores and I am a very light sleeper. It has improved our relationship to sleep apart. Since I talk to my friends about it, I know that many of them also sleep apart and credit it for being able to stay happily married instead of being sleep deprived and always mad at their partner. On vacation, we often go back to sharing a bed.

To be fair, the majority of women, who have said bits, don’t know what they are either, most seem to think it is all vagina.

The entire medical industry does this so that in every language on the planet they are talking about the same thing and know that they are talking about the same thing and that there hasn’t been a translation error. Hyponatremia is hyponatremia no matter what language you speak.
- Comment on There were probably some people who just really liked "Never gonna give you up" and really enjoyed getting rick rolled 2 months ago:
Yep. For some reason I’ve never tired of that song. Others I would hate hearing 1/100th as much but not it.

Except Trump has finally made every other country in the world question why we don’t just cut the rope. I think the rope will be cut if Trump continues to stay in office.
- Comment on [deleted] 2 months ago:
Yep. I had one who would never stray far and didn’t want to cross the road without my say so until they were about 10. The other as soon as they were able to walk/run would high tail it to the nearest roadway the second your gaze wavered. Trying to convince my MIL that we weren’t abusive but just trying to keep our child alive until they knew better and could be reasoned with, was an ordeal. And holding their hand wasn’t much of an option because they would pull hard enough to dislocate their elbow. They also hated strollers or backpacks so that was not a viable option.

Hopefully it is dessert soup otherwise it might be a bit on the sandy side.

Not accurate. The Lib would be wearing a life jacket and know how to swim.
- Comment on New modelling reveals full impact of Trump’s ‘Liberation Day’ tariffs – with the US hit hardest 4 months ago:
Probably true. It is Trump backing the US into a corner. No other country in backing them there. Americans need to decide, do they get rid of him, or are they willingly sacrificing their family members so he can increase his net wealth (and that of his kids) at average Americans’ expense? Unfortunately I expect Americans will be “patriotic” and die to give Trump not only all their money but also their health and lives.
- Comment on Millennials are watching monthly student loan payments skyrocket from $500 to $5000 under Trump: This will ‘crash the economy’ 4 months ago:
Crashing the economy is the point, isn’t it. Every crash the richest few scoop up the assets and the peasants (most of Americans) settle for working for whatever scraps they can manage.
- Comment on Chinese EV maker BYD says new fast-charging system could be as quick as filling up a tank 4 months ago:
It depends on how conveniently the chargers are located. If you have a smaller battery and can go 200km you’ll need a charging station every 190km and mountainous terrain will change those distances as well. You many end up charging sooner than needed in order to get to the next charging spot. In reality it isn’t as bad as it sounds. I travel the BC interior with my short range EV and the savings in fuel make it worthwhile to stop more often. Even when I pay the high speed charging rates, it is about 1/4 the cost of gasoline per km but takes 15% longer time to get to destination vs our gas vehicle.
