Thank God I’m out of there.
- Comment on Star Citizen fans sigh deeply, rub their foreheads as developer casts doubt on Squadron 42's 2026 release: 'I don't know if we're going to make it' 1 week ago:
All I really wanted was SQ42 back when I supported it on Kickstarter. With my 20 bucks there’s no regret, but it’s quite funny where things have gone since then.
I install the latest alpha once every year and am both amazed and disappointed.
I don’t expect SQ42 to be released before 2030 and I do expect it to be a buggy, unoptimized mess when it finally arrives.
I’ve been thoroughly entertained all those years, though.
- Comment on Microsoft is testing full-screen Microsoft 365 ads in Windows 11 for expired subscriptions 1 week ago:
Since I made the switch these kinds of news are hilarious! Yes, make Win 11 into hell! Your customers are your shareholders, users are too be exploited! How long can it last? Who cares, only the next quarter counts!

You know what also blocks Recall reliably? Not using Windows.

This is what industry professionals call a “whoopsie”.
- Comment on Battlefield 6 Official Reveal Trailer 1 month ago:
Even in the pretty generic realm of military fps trailers, this one lacked the tiniest ambition of standing out. It almost dips into the realm of satire in it’s choice of themes and presentation which are all so obviously just lame rehashes of things we’ve all seen dozens of times before.
- Comment on Battlefield 6 Official Reveal Trailer 1 month ago:
This looks so generic I almost fell asleep. This franchise is on its last legs.
- Comment on Campaign asking EU to stop publishers "destroying" online games hit by anonymous transparency complaint 1 month ago:
At least we know how serious the industry is taking this now. And they still haven’t heard about the Streisand effect.

- Comment on Vibe coding service Replit deleted production database 2 months ago:
Is this real? Because it sounds like some low effort satire about blindly trusting LLMs and the totally expected outcomes. Surely no one can be this naive.
- Comment on Why doesn't Trump destroy or modify the Epstein files? 2 months ago:
If they tried to alter or destroy the files there is a good chance it would be found out, which would escalate the situation to a whole different level.
- Comment on tchncs.de is powered by donations 2 months ago:
I am sometimes considering launching a proper commercial instance, where membership requires a monthly fee. For me, having a well maintained instance is easily worth a few euros per month and it would be an interesting experiment. But I’d much rather have enthusiasts like Milan do their thing and be able to get by.
Consider this: do you want to go back to ad-financed corporate social media? Because that’s what you’ll get when you want your services “for free”. Enthusiasm scales only so far.

I’ve already given up on FPV freestyle as a hobby, since it’s getting ever heavier regulated and the authorities have very little understanding or tolerance when it comes to bending the rules. It was fun while it lasted.

- Comment on Romero Games reportedly met with Microsoft just a day before the publisher pulled funding for the studio, and there was 'no mention' of the decision that put over 100 people out of work 2 months ago:
They took a huge bet on consolidation and it didn’t really pay off. Now they’re writing it off.
- Comment on Game Pass will "either kill everyone else, or give up", says Dishonored and Prey dev Arkane founder 2 months ago:
I tried GamePass PC until a whole bunch of my favourite games disappeared. So I had to buy them in the end l, which, given steam’s usual deals, was about the same as keeping my subscription. It’s not a great deal for discerning customers and people will notice.

I get a feeling MS doesn’t want to be in the game production/publishing space anymore. They see bigger growth opportunities elsewhere. I personally believe that it’s a big mistake and the ai bubble will cost them dearly, but chasing very short term profitability has never hurt an executive.

Oof, these highlighted parts from only one video are already enough for me. This looks very stressful, I don’t think I could finish a whole ride with one of these.
- Comment on Tesla Robotaxi Drops Off Passengers in Middle of Intersection… Handpicked Riders Say the “Performance Was Great” 2 months ago:
Watching the video that’s still pretty tame. Not good, but nothing to make the news either. I expect much worse.

I wonder how long the facade will hold. They can’t restrict the service to pro-Tesla influencers forever and the safety guys will have to go eventually. How long before weird or dangerous incidents start to happen? Days, weeks? It won’t take months, of that I am certain.
