That’s fair. I forgot briefly that fediverse has that political side lol but meant more the technology of “broadcasting” and inter-site communications. Seems a better comparison than email at least.

So Usenet was the first fedi site? Reassuring that the concept predates the current paradigm and still has legs, however niche it is atm.

Hey bangs are nice :( just not DIY bangs that stem from “ohmygod-my-hair-is-too-heavy-gtfo-my-face” energy, which is hard to resist.
Every time I get a haircut I like going shorter though, just a matter of convincing the stylist to let me get a mullet/undercut since they think it’ll “look like a bad haircut” and seem convinced it’ll ruin their reputation lol. Just let me indulge my trashy instincts please and thank you! 😂

A recent U.S. State Department report on Saudi Arabia’s human rights record in 2024 listed abuses including “arbitrary or unlawful killings, disappearances, torture, arbitrary arrest and detention, and serious restrictions on freedom of expression and media freedom,” among other issues.
Sounds like 2025 in the US. Makes sense where they got the blueprint from.

Isn’t part of the Kickstarter ToS that you understand there’s a chance the project won’t come to fruition?

Nah fam.
I used to joke about furries but after being here for the last ~6 months they’re one of the last bastions of free expression and also more or less an inextricable part of any online spaces worth participating in.
The presence of furries is unironically a sign of resilience. Let them be.

- Comment on Tailscale difficulties 3 weeks ago:
Maybe? The port setups work fine on the home router (such as accessing Steam link/Sunshine from a TV) but because it’s behind the mandatory AT&T modem it causes some nasty configuration headaches for external access.
- Comment on Tailscale difficulties 3 weeks ago:
This may sound crazy but do you have an AT&T router?
I have not been able to solve it myself yet unfortunately but having two routers has made it impossible for me to use Tailscale/Wireguard/ZeroTier etc. in much the same way as you’re describing.
The devices “see” each other but can’t connect no matter what configuration I follow, what firewall settings I tweak, nothing. I think there’s a pass through problem where UPnP is in conflict.
Sorry I don’t have an answer but I promise you’re not alone in your frustration.

Their TVs suck too. The remotes barely respond and they’re bogged down with ad-riddled garbage to the point I had to set up a parental lock just so I wasn’t force-fed trashy, outdated reality TV at 300 decibels when I power the damn thing on. Or worse, when the power goes out and it decides to blast at 3 AM. Unfortunately I didn’t make the choice to buy this thing.
Their phones are also locked down proprietary horse arse. I don’t understand the people who do, but oh well.

I’m not sure why you’re being downvoted, what you’re saying is pretty much what everyone else is.
You’re acknowledging that corporate greed and class warfare is the problem. You’re using your position as a parent in a half decent financial situation to help your kids where you can. You’re not wrong.
You’re not blaming gen Z at all but I fear without punctuation people might be misinterpreting. Every last bit of collective effort helps.
Your sons are fortunate to have you as a parent.

I don’t think most people take it so seriously.
It’s shorthand to denote that they’re not humans, and separate what you read from your own internal monologue. Because it’s a meme, it’s often done with haste and inconsistent. Although I’ve never met a toddler who talks in a manner like pet-net-speak.
Now that I think of it, I have a sincere question: do you find characters like Daffy or Donald Duck creepy? How about Scooby Doo?
