Not sure what the late American music artist, XXXTentacion (left) has to do with this, but it did spur me to look up and find out that Republican former New York representative George Santos (man on the right has recently been sentenced for his fraudulent political campaign.

As much as I hate to say this in response to your comment, self diagnosis is valid.
Mostly the context is for people without resources, however, so your point is fair. Taking away validity for marginalized groups’ experiences is at risk with that stance though.
Thanks if you read this and I hope you have a great day otherwise. /gen

“Digital media” is a hell of a weird way of saying “capitalism”

McCarthyism, Southern Strategy, three letter agencies spending decades actively targeting/murdering activists; yeah it’s been rough.

I loved specific fruit as a kid. Bananas, grapes, and watermelon? Hell yeah. Apples and honeydew? Death glare for suggesting it.
I and my sibling also got fiendish for salad and fresh vegetables but hated frozen.
I’d wager that just like with adults, every kid is different.

One can only hope, but knowing how fucking stupid my right-wing, sycophantic, fellow countrymen are I doubt much will change.
Pretty sure everyone who voted against him already hates him though.

If the current Israeli government wanted people to believe what they say instead of getting their jollies via military occupation and genocide they’d have ramped up humanitarian aid to Palestinians and taken every measure possible to protect them instead of, well, gestures broadly.

If it’s any perverse consolation people believed those stupid fucking conspiracies long before the internet shoved their idiocy in our faces.
I grew up in a household with those conspiracies, including but not limited to Illuminati, wrist chips, and other flavors of end-of-times insanity. Grown adults spewing that straight faced made me lose my trust in them.
I also grew up playing the game and understood it was fully fabrication, but also a commentary just like every other science fiction work.
Idiots are not new, just louder now.

- Comment on Solar noon is the only real noon 1 month ago:
Per the Wikipedia article:
It is a common myth in the United States that DST was first implemented for the benefit of farmers.[38][39][40] In reality, farmers have been one of the strongest lobbying groups against DST since it was first implemented.[38][39][40] The factors that influence farming schedules, such as morning dew and dairy cattle’s readiness to be milked, are ultimately dictated by the sun, so the clock change introduces unnecessary challenges.[38][40][41]
TL:DR for the rest of the history and rationale: Most of this was rich people wanting more time for their personal hobbies, other people’s sleep and health be damned.

- Comment on Lemmy’s essential 25 PS1 games 1 month ago:
Hear me out:
Monsters, Inc. Scream Team.
For a PS1 game it was ahead of its time. Fleshed out 3D levels that are actually navigable, decent camera angles, solid platforming + puzzles, and level revisiting that does not feel excessively repetitive. The difficulty is also not a god-awful sudden cliff like some PS1/2 games of the era. It’s one of the few, maybe the only PS1 game I’ve played multiple times through.
As a plus the soundtrack is banger.

As someone who didn’t vote for the Cheeto Nazi, thank you for the nuance.
That said, comment OP and anyone reading this - please boycott and sanction the US! Starving the billionaire leeches and smacking government into pretending they have an iota of decorum or sense is necessary, and any outside influence on that is helpful.

Yeah those first couple paragraphs were just “ADHD/autistic woman behaves like an ADHD/autistic woman. Time to blame her for using accommodation equipment!” (Not actually Dx’ing her, but I recognize a lot of my own patterns here).
Like for fuck’s sake let us have our small bits of sanity. Tuning out the constant hell that is everyday life is not a sin.
