I don’t know what kind of logical fallacy it is in us humans, but we really think in the present that we live in a time where we’re above nature like that, as if there’s a solution to everything. And not to talk ill of you your wife, but I wouldn’t be surprised if she thought: “oh well, I’m sure we’ll figure something out before anything bad happens” once you told her. And maybe she just trusted that her father knew better, that’s also not out of the question.
One thing has always been true though: Don’t fuck with water. Just look at the Grand Canyon after all.

several times a year. But these days? Scary stuff. Luckily I don’t have crypto. And while proton on linux simulates a sandboxed windows environment, there’s still free access to root via the Z: drive that wine sets up, so unless one uses the flatpak version which is even more sandboxed, there’s still some potential danger there even as a linux user. It’s just a matter of when. - Comment on 'Star Trek: Strange New Worlds' Needs to Imagine More for Its Female Characters 2 weeks ago:
To me that was somehow more believable than “lines existing between pyramids” which is what ley lines are based on earth. The line between the most stable structures over time lol.

That last episode of season 3 with “ley line bus routes” was… 🤦 … something.

They’re right. It’s absurd that Israel can get away repercussion-free with bombing targets in random countries. If anyone but Israel did that they’d be called a terrorist state.

Sucks that billionaires own the privately owned media, and what they don’t own they can just buy. That’s where national news services should step in.

Yeah. I miss Opera Presto, some real competition. Ladybird can’t come soon enough.

Maybe this is a 4D chess move by Mozilla, making everyone leave Firefox which makes Chrome such a monopoly that Google has to split with it.

Spinless cowards. It’s clear whose hand is feeding the dogs that we call leaders here in EU.

Maybe my brain was already too cooked from seeing awful stuff on the internet at the point where I watched the Animatrix, even though that’s hard to believe, I was still in my 20s back then, but I’ve totally forgotten that scene. Maybe it’s time for a rewatch, I have rewatched The Matrix a few times this year already after all.

That Fullmetal Alchemist episode is perhaps the most traumatic piece of anime I’ve watched to date, not counting Grave of the Fireflies of course. I haven’t watched Brotherhood, but is it in there as well?

I’m 1500 hours away from hitting 10k in Civ 5. I think I’ll stick with that for a few years more until LEKMOD stops being updated, and then I’ll think about giving 6 a chance…

One of the few games based on the Quake 2 engine. Which is a shame, I quite liked the chunky feel of it.

I barely remember the story of SiN, but I do remember enjoying it when it came out. That whole “guy in the chair”/mission control shtick is probably why I hold this game in the same category as Deus Ex in my head, even though they’re very different.

- Comment on After shuttering Shadow of Mordor and MultiVersus studios, Warner Bros. Games confirm rearrangement into four bits 3 months ago:
It is bullshit indeed. Especially now with AI, seemingly it would be relatively easier to throw in some adversarial llm in a game to keep a game engaging nowadays.
And imagine if other games started patenting systems like that: “Fatrolling is a unique movement system only found in FromSoftware games”. Soon there wouldn’t be anyone making games except for those with patents. - Comment on After shuttering Shadow of Mordor and MultiVersus studios, Warner Bros. Games confirm rearrangement into four bits 3 months ago:
Btw. the patented Nemesis system from Shadow of Mordor that everyone loved despite only having been used in that one game, won’t expire until 2036, and yeah, Warner Bros. gets to keep it.

78 dead and that number seems likely to rise. Out of a population of 63 million it could be a lot worse, but the story about a school van just swept away is still heartbreaking to hear about.
