I mean, not that there have been tons of successive civilizations around here, so… And yet if that was the case, you’ll need to take in account that oral lore may have had a hand in the names of places, so it’s mostly improbable that a place has had completely different names with each civilization.

In my third world country the real issue is about costs. At this very moment cooking with gas is cheaper than cooking with electric.
The gas provider company mandates an inspection on every home gas apppliance and the installation every 5 years to check for good connections and correct ventilation (if a home does not pass the checks the service is suspended), so I guess at least it diminishes the risks to some degree.
But still since gas is going to be a lot expensive in the following weeks, maybe the tables will turn. But then you’ll need to get an electric stove.

I really wish we could actually “rename” places as their original indigenous names across all America(
s). For example my country had an internal turmoil just to keep the original name of its capital city because we love our native people, and yet we keep the incredibly stupid name of “Land of Colon” (imho most probably the most stupid name of any country, ever) because fuck our native people. - Comment on cilanto 🌿 2 weeks ago:
My father had a crop of cilantro at one time and I never knew about somebody saying that cilantro tastes like soap. It was only a few years ago when I started to get my nose into Reddit when I read about people saying that.

I remember one time at r/peloton one of those tribalistic mildly-xenophobic nutcases told me, after sharing an article in spanish which had some ambiguous word, something to the effect that “spanish is the most confusing language in the world”.
Yes, that genius told that. In english.

Me too. Was unemployed for 2.5 years and completely broke. My own sister bullied me about that to no end on a daily basis. Lost almost all of my hair in less than six months (didn’t even hit 30 with hair in my head and no, my parents nor grandparents never went bald). Was dumped and heartbroken and lost my only and best friend in the world - my dog.
But somehow the COVID thing brought inner peace, a stable job, and pretty much could turn my life upside down.
- Comment on What Ever Happened to MSN Messenger? 4 months ago:
From my ignorant point of view Microsoft had in its very own hands a solid competitor to Facebook but ended doing absolutely nothing with it.
I still can recall the MSN/Hotmail profiles - it was kind of a news feed that recorded all your statuses from MSN (or you could add your own there). Your contacts could add comments on those. I think at some point you could add posts with pictures too.
But all of that just disappeared when they ditched MSN.
They could’ve beat Facebook in its own game easily, as they had the advantage of their username - but somehow they missed on that too.

It’s because you’re pregnant.
But on all seriousness, some say that there are cases when the would-be-father also feels nauseous with food when the girl gets pregnant.
