I was talking with a coworker a few months ago, who to my surprise was a big Tesla supporter. He was convinced Elon would take personal accountability for FSD because it was THAT good. I told him he’s living in a fantasy world.
- Comment on Plex is locking remote streaming behind a subscription in April 1 week ago:
Ok sure, they aren’t routing, just using P2P like I mentioned. It’s still not possible to access remotely without using plex services. This is what you are paying for. If you don’t want to pay for their auto-config remote streaming it’s easy enough to do it yourself.
- Comment on Plex is locking remote streaming behind a subscription in April 2 weeks ago:
Because he’s right. You can’t access your own server remotely without plex’s infrastructure (provided you don’t just set up that infrastructure yourself). You don’t need to open ports or anything. Your server reaches out to plex server, which creates an entry point to your network. Your stream is then either routed through their servers or possibly setup as P2P stream.
- Comment on Plex is locking remote streaming behind a subscription in April 2 weeks ago:
All it means is you can’t go through their servers. If you setup a different way to access your network (VPN) it’ll still work.

Not sure if it’s changed by now but a lot of the social apps for Android would just take a screen grab when taking a picture, so when uploading from Android the pics looked much worse than iPhone.

I don’t think this is actually true. Pretty sure if you feed it naked adults and clothed children it can figure out the rest.

Damn fine print!

I once ordered two mugs from Etsy. It was literally two mugs in a cardboard box. No bubble wrap, no nothing. Arrived in about 8 pieces.

Anecdotal but tinder is by far the best for me.
- Comment on I still don’t think companies serve you ads based on spying through your microphone 2 months ago:
If it’s a never before thought of idea how can there possibly be ads for it? No one has ever thought of it and the product doesn’t exist right?
Like I said, there are always other ways. Maybe you searched something related the day before and don’t remember. Maybe your friend did.
- Comment on I still don’t think companies serve you ads based on spying through your microphone 2 months ago:
It can always be explained by something else. Recency bias being a big one. It’s very possible you saw an ad yesterday as well, but didn’t notice you saw it because you haven’t talked about that item. Talk about it today, see the same ad, and now you think you’re being listened to.
It’s very possible your father googled something after hanging up the phone. There are endless ways they can connect you to knowing your father.
It’s possible someone on the same wifi network as you or your father overheard the conversation and looked it up.
All of these are far more likely than everything you say and do being recorded without anyone ever finding any definitive proof.

A key on the keyboard turns it on afaik. You don’t need to press the power button.
- Comment on M4 Mac Mini Power Button Has New Bottom Location 5 months ago:
I think it’s more just their minimal design combined with the fact that a normal user will never press the power button. Most people don’t shut down their computers, and if they do, a key on the keyboard turns it on.
The only argument I’ve seen to this being bad is in a server rack environment.
- Comment on Sweden, Norway rethink plans for cashless societies over fears that fully digital payment systems would leave them vulnerable to Russian security threats 5 months ago:
In the future I’d recommend adding your card to your phone. It’s more secure paying with your phone vs card, and if you need a new card for whatever reason, your phone will automatically just keep working.

I get what you are saying, and somewhat agree. However this really reads exactly like a decade ago when it was “teens can’t tell the difference between killing someone in a video game vs real life”
