That’s kind of my point. Some people buy 10000€ world tour level bikes, but you can get a road bike with hydraulic disc brakes new for under 2000€ which will still be a very good bike and be future proof for years to come. And you can get much lower than that if you are willing to go used and ride something a bit older eg. with rim brakes and that will also be an excellent bike.
Cycling is an expensive hobby (just like gaming), but it only gets ridiculously expensive when people buy into the marketing and want the newest, highest end stuff. Which is fine and of course you can get some marginal gains out of it. It’s like buying a 5090: your games will run a bit better, but you can get just as much enjoyment out of an older card for a fraction of the cost.

Technically you can “play” other things too (there are competitors that offer the similar experiences), including GTA. But nobody is Zwifting for the gameplay anyway. It’s not really a game and just something to make indoor cycling in the off season a little bit less dull. Personally I don’t think it’s worth the subscription and would rather just watch a movie.

Road cycling is a rich persons sport, gaming is circuses for us poors.
I can’t fully deny that, but I’d say you can get into road cycling for about the same cost as AAA PC gaming.

I mean you could say the same about any current AAA game. A Zwift setup including the bike, trainer and device to run it on can easily be cheaper than a modern gaming rig.

I don’t know, bikes are incredibly diverse vehicles too. A tricycle is nothing like a cargo bike, a full suspension mountain bike, a road bike, a time trial bike, a BMX, a fixed gear etc. and they all feel very different to ride.
And while there might not be as many moving parts as on a car, a lot of engineering goes into the design of high end bicycles. If you’re into bikes, it’s very easy to appreciate the beauty and functional design of a well designed bicycle.
The fact that they are at their core simple machines which basic function hasn’t changed since the invention of the safety bicycle in the 1880s, yet have been innovated on ever since to arrive at the bikes we have today is what makes them fascinating imo.
Some people enjoy cars and some people enjoy bikes, but there isn’t really anything that makes one more inherently interesting.

You’re an adult and it’s your body, if you want a vasectomy, get a vasectomy.
That being said, I was 100% I didn’t want kids when I was your age. Now I’m 37 and trying to have kids. Obviously that doesn’t mean you’ll change your mind, but it can happen.
- Comment on Rumor: Star Wars Outlaws Sequel Canceled By Ubisoft 1 month ago:
I played it and completed the story. In my opinion it’s not awful, but it’s not exactly good either. The gameplay is bland, repetitive and unoriginal. Nothing about it is special in any way and unless you care about the Star Wars license, there is literally zero reason to play it. If you do care about the license the gameplay is serviceable enough to keep you busy while it tells its story, but that’s about it. Which makes it pretty ironic that Ubisoft blames Star Wars for the games lack of success.

Kobe Bryant dedicated all his waking hours to basketball, and I don’t think there’s a lot of people saying that Kobe Bryant shouldn’t have worked as hard as he did.
Yeah, but he was working to achieve something for himself and not to make some parasite richer.

Oh, I totally read that as you talking from experience :)
Or do you mod somewhere else?
- Comment on Tesseract is shutting down 2 months ago:
Since you’re on the same instance as me, I assume you are a mod/admin there. Let me use this opportunity to say thank you to you and all the other mods on feddit.org for helping to keep that place one of the most pleasant online spaces I’ve come across in my years on the internet. As far as I can tell from the outside you and the others are doing a great job.

In my experience the city information is not particularly reliable. If you geolocate my IP the city is always wrong.

You clearly find it easy to stop doing things that are bad for you (drinking, drugs, eating meat), but you struggle to start doing things that are good for you (exercise, cooking, eating enough/well).
She was right. I still don’t do the bad stuff and started doing the good stuff and now my life is so much better. Ironically it was quitting the last bad thing (weed) which allowed me to start taking care of myself. It’s not enough to not hurt yourself, you have to be good to yourself too.

That’s not been my experience at all (also in Germany). Signal is super popular, especially with younger people (under 40). I don’t have a Whatsapp account and it’s super rare for it to be an issue.

Nothing says big dick energy like having a tantrum because you convinced yourself a woman who doesn’t even know you exist called your penis small.
