It’s really not like it used to be, you just have to pick one of the newest version and see if you like it. There’s no continuing from older series, technology is randomly founded and Gundams have yet to evolve beyond what we expected. I’m sure you’ll like one of the newer indie studios version of Gundam ideas with current and future technology being used which matches the sci-fi genre vs old style Gundam that has political views.
