- Comment on A new cooling technology freezes food without warming the climate 2 weeks ago:
The headline reads “A new cooling technology freezes food without warming the climate”. It doesnt mention the lack of (gaseous) refrigerent.
The thing about machines that make them bad for the environment in general is the fact that they use up energy, which is nowadays still mostly created in a process that also releases massive amounts of CO2.
Its unlikely that the environmental impact of the gaseous refrigerent is as big as the impact of the CO2 that is created to run the fridge over its lifetime. It makes sense then to assume this fridge doesnt use power, since right now thats the only way it could cool without heating up the planet.Im not saying this tech isnt interesting, but the headline is total BS

Probably, as long as you dont think about iron man 1. but thats also not a high bar to clear. - Comment on She's out of town and I'm cleaning her entire collection as a surprise 2 months ago:
Cast iron pans have to be burned in with oil to create a non-stick patina. If you use aggressive cleaning agents or steel wool, this patina gets stripped, and the process has to be repeated

- Comment on How to download Google Takeout zips? 4 months ago:
I recently went through the same process. Luckily only 6 zip files, and all but one (the one with my emails) were pretty much empty.
What really pissed me off: because i didnt log in with my current device to google yet, after i let google create the takeout it came to me like “ehh i dont know this phone yet, better wait a week to download”
A week later: “ohh seems like we only store takeouts for a week, guess you gotta do it again :(”
