- Comment on China bans its biggest tech companies from acquiring Nvidia chips, says report — Beijing claims its homegrown AI processors now match H20 and RTX Pro 6000D 5 days ago:
Probably. It’s hard to say since so much is behind the veil. In fact it’s likely China has its own DUV lithography supply. US estimates on what China can produced based on number of asml units sold is wildly wrong.

I don’t think you realize it, but your proving my point. I never said no Huawei chips would be sold. I said China wants to reach criticality with it’s users. With Huawei chips being more expensive and less capable, the big boys won’t buy Huawei. And the secondary market doesn’t matter to the big boys who will get it at MSRP because orders always go to them first. Since they have the most users and will have the most exposure for stress testing.
The last thing China wants is for Huawei to only sell to smaller companies and start ups where it’s entirely possible there will be no users and money wasted. That’s why the new law only targets the major companies.

The problem is the Chinese chips are not cheaper. Huawei’s 910c is about 30% slower and 1/3 more expensive. Add on top of that a lack of software, without government force, who would buy it?
- Comment on China bans its biggest tech companies from acquiring Nvidia chips, says report — Beijing claims its homegrown AI processors now match H20 and RTX Pro 6000D 5 days ago:
You’re right about that, BUT I’d argue that’s all small potatoes. If no one develops on Chinese chips, then they’ll never actually be competitive. The only way for China to push ahead in any capacity, or even to catch up is to have thousands of users on their chipsets.
Let’s look at the MooreThreads MTT80. When it started it was performing like a 2017 GPU GT1030. They did 0 hardware upgrades. I will repeat that 0 hardware upgrades. But today, it’s able to run the domestic game Black Myth WuKong at 4k at 40 fps. Yes I realize that means it stutters, but with no hardware changes they were able to make a fairly demanding modern game playable. What this has rang through out China I am sure is, we have to do everything on earth to fix our software. If that means banning NVIDIA, so be it.
- Comment on China bans its biggest tech companies from acquiring Nvidia chips, says report — Beijing claims its homegrown AI processors now match H20 and RTX Pro 6000D 5 days ago:
Exactly right! This why China is banning the chips. They caught up in hardware and now need to catch up in software. If they continue to allow people to use NVIDIA chips, then their software will never progress as they won’t have users to optimize them.
- Comment on US Plans AI Chip Curbs on Malaysia, Thailand Over China Concerns 2 months ago:
Most of China’s smuggling is through middle eastern countries. Which USA signed deals to give them more than they need. Which was already flagged as a problem, and promptly ignored by Trump’s administration. But we are going to restrict Thailand and Malaysia? Both of which do not really buy AI chips to begin with. Why? And if USA is going to do this, why not ban Singapore. A nation that was caught smuggling chips to China several times? Someone make it make sense
- Comment on Commerce Secretary Lutnick says tariff exemptions for electronics are only temporary: Lutnick said "semiconductor tariffs" will likely come in "a month or two.". 5 months ago:
Your right. It could be both. I mean, my wife said to me the other day that she heard Trump was doing the tariffs to lower the bond interest rates. I said while in some types of recessions that’s true, that wouldn’t work in this case and you’d have to be an idiot to think it would. Sure enough the next day Trump puts a stay on tariffs to most of the world because the bond market got rocked. All I could think of is omg, are they really that fucking stupid?
- Comment on Commerce Secretary Lutnick says tariff exemptions for electronics are only temporary: Lutnick said "semiconductor tariffs" will likely come in "a month or two.". 5 months ago:
I wish it was that. No, this is actual evil, not incompetence. Trump has turned the US economy into the largest pump and dump scheme ever. Worse, he’s bragging about how his friends made billions. I can’t even believe this is happening. I’m in utter shock. I knew Trump would be bad, but straight up flaunting corruption like it’s a joke and even bringing the SCOTUS on board with this. I’m just gob smacked.
- Comment on iPhones were already losing ground in China. Then came Trump’s tariffs: Consumers ditch Apple for more advanced features and to support Chinese brands. 5 months ago:
You don’t understand. Chinese companies have been preparing for this for almost a decade now thanks to US policies. Here’s manufacturing locations just for Moto.
motosmartphones.com/where-are-motorola-phones-mad…
How much is it really made in Brazil? Enough to by pass the tariffs.
This is transhipment. China has been building an enormous transhipment network with those countries heavily dependent on Chinese heavy machinery and services. They expected this, they prepared for this. It’s the US companies that tried to obey their own countries rules that are susceptible. Even Samsung has been working with China to create these networks. Soon, I would estimate, Apple will as well. The problem is, if you thought Tik Tok was a national security issue, forcing every US company to use Chinese logistics to fight your own countries tariffs…
- Comment on Fucking leeches 6 months ago:
Well, it’s not hyperbolic because as I’ve said, sadly in life we’ve seen humans over consume far too many times.
I mean the best example I can give is climate change. It’s very clear our over consumption of oils is destroying our environment. But humanities reaction thus far has shown to basically call it an exaggeration and ignore the problem. If keep saying human over consumption is hyperbolic, that’s how we get president Trump.
- Comment on Fucking leeches 6 months ago:
What do you find hyperbolic about this? In fact, it’s not even the first time it would happen. Why aren’t there Dodo birds, or California red legged frogs? Why are we concerned about Blue fin tuna or sustainable seafood at all? We have a long history of humans deciding something is good and too many of us eat it, build on it, over fish it etc… How would land lording be any different or hyperbolic?
- Comment on Fucking leeches 6 months ago:
Huh? I’m saying if everyone dropped whatever it is they normally do and instead all do the same exact thing, it would ruin an economy. We need diversity regardless of whatever else is happening. We couldn’t survive if everyone became farmers and no one become engineers. So ultimately, it’s a pointless statement to say if everyone did anything, such as landlording, the economy would be ruined.
- Comment on Fucking leeches 6 months ago:
That guy said what I was pointing out. Also, it’s not a hyperbole, it would absolutely destroy the economy if everyone did the same thing regardless of what that thing is. Even if everyone decided eating chicken would be the only protein that we eat would destroy the economy. Which is why I added my edit. It’s not just about a profession, but anything, literally anything done in unison by every other human would wreck an economy.
- Comment on Fucking leeches 6 months ago:
What? Your comment doesn’t make sense. If everyone did any profession solely we would destroy the economy. If everyone became doctors, there would be no engineers or pilots. We would still be doomed. A diversity of vocations are necessary regardless of which vocation.
- Comment on Now that Trump is getting real chummy with Putin where does that leave China? 6 months ago:
No one knows. Here’s a video of Trump from a few days ago saying he’s willing to concede Taiwan.
With that offer on the table, who knows how much China would be willing to pay Trump. Trump is just in it for himself. He just put a trillion dollar chip on the bargaining table.
- Comment on RedNote may wall off “TikTok refugees” to prevent US influence on Chinese users 8 months ago:
I’m not sure what your trying to say. Rednote was always censored. Are you talking about Tik Tok?
Here’s a whole list of videos on tik tok about tiananmen with multiple videos showing tankman.
www.tiktok.com/tag/tiananmensquare
And here’s niaomi’s tik tok
- Comment on RedNote may wall off “TikTok refugees” to prevent US influence on Chinese users 8 months ago:
That’s the funny part. As they’re discovering with RedNote, Tik Tok wasn’t censored by China. It actually was it’s own entity and did it’s own thing. That was a company decision because they thought it would make more money, and they were right.
- Comment on RedNote may wall off “TikTok refugees” to prevent US influence on Chinese users 8 months ago:
Those will stay rumors. Thinking the CCP will wall off Americans shows a complete lack of understanding China. Since as the article noted, if you don’t follow the rules you’ll be banned, there’s no way the government will try to wall off anyone. Hell, China didn’t even want to ban Google. They asked Google to put in the rules that rednote has. Google refused, the firewall blocks Google until they abide by the rules. If Google ever just follows the rules like Microsoft, they’re more than welcome to come back. If there’s any segregation it will be because the server’s are overwhelmed.
