- Comment on AMD deprioritizing flagship gaming GPUs: Jack Hyunh talks new strategy against Nvidia in gaming market 4 months ago:
Not necessarily a bad thing if they can make the prices lower, if most people end up buying cheaper but adequate hardware developers will have an incentive to make their games work with that hardware. We have seen what games with NVidia partnerships ended up with in terms of bugs with ATI GPUs but aren’t those problems less severe now?

This is the team’s YouTube channel. Not a headline.

- Comment on Devs should not be "forced to run on a treadmill until their mental or physical health breaks", says publisher of Manor Lords, citing how gamers seem to be trained to expect endless content work now 6 months ago:
I don’t care about extra content, it is a welcome addition for games with long-term support like Stardew Valley. If the dev and publisher have a lot of money I do expect long-term bug fixing.

Works like that in Belgium as well.
France trusts that people will be nice but if landlords play dumb there’s 10% interest per month after one month, and it can be expedited in small claims court if you prove bad faith and/or fraud.

On me it barely works to use alcohol, I don’t know how they make the stuff for surgeries but it is the right viscosity and concentration of iodine and other stuff to really remove anything alive without using a lot.
I have yet to find something that works as well for cotton with gunky deodorant residue, old t-shirts need a hot wash with a lot of soap and vinegar from time to time, sometimes two washes in a row.

You don’t need to shave, using the antiseptic they cover you in before surgery is enough in my experience, and won’t cause itching and cuts like shaving does.
- Comment on Rule of law declining across EU, report warns 10 months ago:
They sound lovely, and exactly like the type of people you may need to greet with lead one day. Politicians have no incentive for honour or morals, they must be kept in check, they will always find lackeys to do the worst atrocities imaginable.
- Comment on Rule of law declining across EU, report warns 10 months ago:
Time for civilian rearmament before they start creating camps and giving free train rides to the undesirables.
- Comment on Why do railroad workers keep dying on the job? 10 months ago:
The problem isn’t greed, there will always be psychopaths finding the most profitable ventures where they can act without fear of their lack of morals being a hindrance. The problem is that the people responsible for accidents and even catastrophes don’t have to pay for damages, or spend any time in prison. They are known to be responsible and the penalties are always ridiculous. The incentive is to keep pushing for the limits in profits/damage done.
The posturing about electropneumatic brakes in the USA a few years back is ridiculous. Freight trains in UIC countries don’t need them to be way less dangerous. Turns out maintenance and safety culture help more than technological gizmos.
The rule of law only applies to the undesirables.
Victims, for now at least, put up with the justice system being useless at curbing the disregard for safety. What happens when people don’t trust the justice system anymore is lynch mobs and random assassinations.
Trains laden with dangerous goods can raze a city so people should keep the railway companies accountable before it happens to them.

Well in my head it isn’t crazy, you can join the royal military school of Belgium with a high school diploma and get a degree while being paid, fed and hosted. It isn’t great fun and they’re pretty strict, and you have to serve them for five years (or sometimes more) afterwards, but it’s a pretty good deal if you don’t want to spend a lot of money on prolonged studies like becoming a surgeon.
- Comment on Schools in America apparently have their own army recruiter 11 months ago:
True. The taxes you pay do that already though, might as well get a degree and leave as soon as you can if it is a good option.
- Comment on Schools in America apparently have their own army recruiter 11 months ago:
You can’t go to officer schools out of high school if you have good grades/pass an entrance exam? Mad.
- Comment on Schools in America apparently have their own army recruiter 11 months ago:
Can’t you get paid to become an officer with a good non-combat role in the US? Sure being cannon fodder sucks but becoming an engineer or a doctor at their expense can be a decent upstart.
