If you’re sure they don’t want it, take it.
If you aren’t sure, ask, if if they are there, and if they aren’t there, take it and ask later if they wanted it (return it if they did).

Take patent, trademark, and copyright laws to what they were in, say, 1790, might be a good start.
Regard today’s billionaires with the same contempt that one does of criminals.
Wait at least 5 years before buying a new computer.

cables which might need be only a few 100 km long and remain in territorial waters.

I’m pretty sure it would result in the US internet being isolated from the rest of the worlds’
except for most of North and South America.

Some short waves seem to be good a penetrating clouds, so some transmission is possible.

At 10 meters, line-of-sight is over 10 km.
On a jet traveling at 1 km, line-of-sight is over 100 km.

I suppose:
1a. that’d be a lot of cables to take off
2b. many cables are terrestrial
3c. Putin would tick off other BRICS members and other countries
4d. ship-to-ship—maybe get some airplanes and balloons involved
5e. American Navy attacks Russian vessels cutting cables, and tell Putin to stop this folly

Thanks for the tips. 🙂
Let’s see:
Gwynne Shotwell (née Rowley, previously Gurevich; born November 23, 1963[1]) is an American businesswoman and engineer. She is the president and chief operating officer of SpaceX, an American space transportation company, where she is responsible for day-to-day operations and company growth.[2]
As of 2023, Shotwell is listed as the 28th most powerful woman in the world by Forbes.[3] She was ranked 54th on Fortune’s list of Most Powerful Women in 2023.[4] In 2020, Time magazine named her as one of the 100 most influential people in the world.[5] In 2018, she was listed as the most powerful female engineer by Business Insider.[6]
In June 2024, eight ex-employees, the same who had previously been fired for penning the open letter against Elon Musk, filed a lawsuit against Musk and SpaceX alleging sexual harassment and discrimination.[338][339]

It seems Musk owns 12.9% of the company.

Texas indeed has been blessed with much sunlight to make solar energy quite viable. This includes solar hot water heaters, and many trees to grow with vigour and bio-filtrate.
