Oh my, if only there were someone with the authority to

They don’t care as long as they can get in, make a few bucks, and get out. Long-term stability isn’t the priority anymore, just quick profits.

It’s all triangles.
Sure. The relate different properties of triangles or periodic phenomena.
But can you explain what a “sine” operation is actually doing? Algebra and calculus can pretty much all be explained in terms of basic operations like addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. But. I’m in the same boat as @rekabis@lemmy.ca - trig operations feel like a black box where one number goes in and a different number comes out. I am comfortable using them and understand their patterns, but don’t really get them.

Working with small ESD-sensitive electronics and using a proper grounding strap and mat with large resistors in series to provide protection from shock? Absolutely.
Wiring up a car battery or working with mains power? Absolutely not.

Using multiple desktops may help you keep all those open programs more organized. :)
I use only use them at work. One desktop is for e-mail, chats, and my music player, the other has all the stuff I need for whatever I’m actually working on at the moment. If I’m switching back and forth between two unrelated tasks, I might use a third to keep everything for the two tasks separate.

Is “multiple desktops” different from virtual desktops? Because i’ve been using virtual desktops in Windows 10 for a while now.

If you don’t mind old shitty graphics and mechanics, start with the original Deus Ex. I played it when it first came out and it blew my little stupid mind. I still replay it once every couple of years. It really taught me what an art video games can be, which was totally new to me after growing up on Wolfenstein and Doom.

I honestly think many people don’t really know what freedom means.
I can’t find it right now, but this reminds me of a tweet that said something like, “Americans think freedom means the ability to choose from between 8 different types of salad dressing instead of like, the ability to leave your job without losing your healthcare.”

I’ve heard BL described as a “looter shooter”, but found that I can mostly ignore the loot aspect. Like OP, I’m not a fan of grinding for special drops, managing a shitload of inventory items, or memorizing loot stats. I just play through the games, occasionally checking drops for something better than what I have, and moving right along. It never felt like a burden to me because I didn’t care about having the “best” gear.

If you’re into FPS games, here are a few suggestions that have RPG elements:
- Deus Ex
- Borderlands
- Bioshock
- FarCry (#3 and after have progression elements, not so much for earlier entries)
