- Comment on Do you leave your consoles on? 4 weeks ago:
I always turned them off, unless I was just going to eat dinner and couldn’t save. The lasers for old systems like the PS2 and Sega Saturn have a longevity, and will wear out over time. I’d rather not speed that up since I plan on keeping them around. I was also scolded for wasting electricity growing up, so that is burned into my habits as well.
- Comment on What can I do with US$10K that is a good investment? 1 month ago:
This might make sense for people with six+ figures sitting in a savings account, but the average person today doesn’t have enough cash to think about earning interest on it. For them, paying off a debt now would be cheaper in the long run. For the most part, at least.
- Comment on What can I do with US$10K that is a good investment? 1 month ago:
I like these points. Preventing a future expense by paying less now is always worth it, if you can afford it.
- Comment on Home Depot 1 month ago:
I worked at home depot, and our manager made people sign a form before having a Hi-Lo load a pallet of floor tile into their truck because it would cause their suspension to bottom out. They’d do it, and drive off with zero leeway on their shocks.
We had one guy come in bragging about how his super-expensive hydraulic suspension could handle it. We loaded 2 pallets of tile into his truck bed. I bet he felt every little crack in the road driving to the job site.

Saga of Tanya the Evil
Uhh, the main character is technically a child, even though they >!have the mind and soul of a middle-aged man!<. I’m not sure I’d include this, but the other characters still work.
- Comment on Microsoft finally officially confirms it's killing Windows Control Panel sometime soon 2 months ago:
If you aren’t ready to fully commit to installing it on a hard drive, you could probably make a live USB stick of Linux. There are installers built to run on windows that will install Linux onto a USB drive, which you can boot from after turning off your PC. That way, you don’t need to worry about wiping or resetting an old computer just to see if you like it.
- Comment on Microsoft finally officially confirms it's killing Windows Control Panel sometime soon 2 months ago:
Unfortunately, most Windows users are not tech savy and will never move to Linux, regardless of how user-friendly Linux becomes. It would take large-scale retailers switching their computers to have Linux pre-installed instead of Windows before any meaningful transition happens.

I saw the headline and thought that “Steering Wheel Manager” was another one of the dumb simulation games flooding Steam. Guess it’s not.

- Comment on If a tunnel boring machine were installed facing downward in a cemetery, you wouldn't need to expand the cemetery 3 months ago:
Leaving a carcass in the wild would attract scavengers and spread disease, which is prevented by inhumation. Cremation is also an option but requires a large amount of fuel. In early and prehistoric cultures, inhumation was the easy option.

- Comment on Nearly all Nintendo 64 games can now be recompiled into native PC ports to add proper ray tracing, ultrawide, high FPS, and more 6 months ago:
I’m pretty sure that has been able to be emulated and run through most emulation software now. These Star Wars games had specific code and drivers that, when I looked up why it wouldn’t emulate years ago, had not been cracked open to get the source code to enable people to program it into emulation software.
- Comment on Nearly all Nintendo 64 games can now be recompiled into native PC ports to add proper ray tracing, ultrawide, high FPS, and more 6 months ago:
The keyboard controls are very janky. You’d have to do custom button mapping with a controller, and there’s no analog input. At least not without some mods that I’m not sure exist.
- Comment on Nearly all Nintendo 64 games can now be recompiled into native PC ports to add proper ray tracing, ultrawide, high FPS, and more 6 months ago:
IIRC, the original cartridge had an extra chip in it that emulation hasn’t been able to use. I’m not sure if any progress has been made on this and a few other games that used these.

- Comment on "Sand Land: The Series" New Key Visual, PV 8 months ago:
Hmm that looks a lot like Akira Toriyama’s art style…
“…the anime series adaptation of the late Akira Toriyama’s SAND LAND manga”
Oh, that makes sense. Were they planning this before he passed, or are they just trying to jump on the popularity train because Toriyama recently passed and everyone is talking about it?
- Comment on 15 billion score in Pokemon Pinball + Caanoo 8 months ago:
Holy crap, that’s dedication. Were you using savestates at all?
My late uncle let me play his copy when I was a kid, and when he told me I caught some pokemon he didn’t have. I got really proud of myself. I remember always trying to get the Master Ball, but it was too hard on the Red table, so I’d always play blue.
- Comment on What are y'all buying on the steam sale? 8 months ago:
Definitely, assuming you like the fantasy action RPG style games. Some enemies are too tough to even damage until you level up and get better equipment, so keep that in mind if you find some sections too difficult. Magic actually feels POWERFUL, more so than other games like Skyrim and Elden Ring. Even with the sequel coming out soon, I couldn’t recommend the first one more; its in my most favorite games of all time.
- Comment on What are y'all buying on the steam sale? 8 months ago:
I have so many Steam Sale games in my library that I haven’t played yet that I don’t know if I could justify buying more. My backlog is just too long. By the time I get around to playing any purchases for this dale, 2 more Steam Sales could have already passed.

Dragon’s Dogma is a great game that was ahead of its time when it came out. I can’t help but wonder how much of a hit it could have been if Capcom marketed it better (or at all).

- Comment on Funimation is shutting down — and taking your digital library with it 9 months ago:
That’s not really what I was going for. Whoops. I probably should have worded it differently. The streaming-only crowd shouldn’t really be affected that much is the point I meant to make.
- Comment on Funimation is shutting down — and taking your digital library with it 9 months ago:
I think the point they were trying to get across, at least in the notice they sent me, is people are losing this because crunchyroll has no implementation for these digital copies. It wasn’t clear if they were going to add this feature to crunchyroll, but I bet they are waiting to see how much of a shitstorm it causes before determining if it’s worth the revenue loss of the people leaving.
- Comment on Funimation is shutting down — and taking your digital library with it 9 months ago:
You can transfer your watchlist and show progress to Crunchyroll, but the only thing that doesn’t transfer is digital purchases. I don’t think many people actually have purchased content, so most people aren’t losing anything.

If you stay away from sketchy sites and don’t click every link that says “DOWNLOAD NOW”, Windows Defender and a web browser with ad-blockers should do their job well enough.
