- Comment on Hisense TVs force owners to watch intrusive ads when switching inputs, visiting the home screen, or even changing channels — practice infuriates consumers, brand denies wrongdoing 2 days ago:
I only use the internet on it to update the firmware.
You don’t even need to do that. I download firmware updates from the LG website, throw it on a USB drive, and plug that into the TV. Actually important firmware updates are so rare that I’m fine with the extra effort required.
- Comment on Valve Sued By The Performing Rights Society Over Music Rights in Games Valve Doesn’t Make or Own 2 days ago:
What’s the VPN uptake in the UK these days, considering the state of government restrictions and surveillance lately? If Valve just said fuck it and pulled out of the market, would they even take a financial hit? Or would most of that revenue magically shift to other countries/currencies?
- Comment on Sony Pulls Back From PlayStation Games on PC 1 week ago:
Most recent word was Miyazaki is interested in a remake but wants From to do it themselves. From is always busy enough with new stuff that they don’t have the bandwidth to take it. Sony respects this and so it sits.
Bluepoint pitched a Bloodborne remake, but FromSoftware turned it down, not Sony
Now, a new report by Bloomberg claims that Bluepoint did, in fact, approach FromSoft in early 2025, pitching a remake of the 2015 game. It’s said that “the studio was told that the numbers made sense, but FromSoftware didn’t want it to happen”.
Interestingly, former president of Sony Interactive Entertainment Shuhei Yoshida posited the same this time last year, saying: "Bloodborne is one of the most popular asks on my Twitter/X. And the people wonder why we haven’t really done anything… it should be easy, right?
“Miyazaki-san really, really loved Bloodborne, what he created. So I think he is interested but he’s so successful and he’s so busy, so he cannot do it himself, and he doesn’t want anyone else to touch it.”
- Comment on Should this be the year we finally try voting for other candidates? 1 week ago:
Also vote in every election, not just the big national ones. You’re more likely to find viable third party candidates in smaller local elections. The more local wins a third party gets, the more exposure they get, the more possible it becomes to have a viable third party at the national level.

Nestle v Nestlé

- Comment on Battle of Wesnoth for the Miyoo Mini Plus - start screen 3 weeks ago:
So cool! I first played Battle for Wesnoth back around 2008. It warms my crotchety old heart to see it still open source, actively developed, and attracting new players in 2026.

- Comment on FBC: Firebreak Free Weekend + Double XP and Remedy discount on Steam 1 month ago:
I’m willing to accept that I’m just old and blind, but where does it actually say there’s a free weekend? I see plenty about the new mode and 60% off sale.

You remember correctly, but also
Almost a full day was devoted to agreeing to name the standard “Small Computer System Interface”, which Boucher intended to be pronounced “sexy”, but ENDL’s Dal Allan pronounced the new acronym as “scuzzy” and that stuck.
- Comment on Hacktivist deletes white supremacist websites live on stage during hacker conference 2 months ago:
That kind of cognitive dissonance is what leads some people to give up ideologies like white supremacy. The endless rationalizing of hypocrisy is fucking exhausting. It’s a lot easier to just accept people as they are than build a whole framework around hating groups of people that allows for like, your neighbor, or an actor, or an athlete, to be okay because “well they’re different than the rest.” Or whatever bullshit excuse.
- Comment on What should the next President of the United States do? 2 months ago:
Sign an EO banning members of Congress and their immediate family from trading in individual stocks. Let them fight it in court and explain why it’s okay for them to engage in inside trading.
- Comment on AGDQ 2026 Schedule 2 months ago:
I don’t think I’ve been more surprised to see a game on a GDQ schedule than Richard Burns Rally. The 20 year old brutally difficult rally sim with a dedicated player base to this day. I can’t wait to see someone actually be good at it live!
- Comment on How do you feel about the removal of tokens from arcades ? 2 months ago:
You would quarter up at every fighting game in my local arcade. Definitely not a Capcom or vs. game only thing.
- Comment on GOG is Getting Acquired By Its Original Co- Founder: What It Means For You 2 months ago:
Now that’s very interesting and I really hope it works out for both GOG and the consumer. I definitely prefer not having a storefront directly tied to a specific developer or publisher (Steam/Valve included).
- Comment on HDD prices spike as AI infrastructure and China's PC push collide — hard drives record biggest price increase in eight quarters, suppliers warn pressure will continue 2 months ago:
I’m saving up now to afford the lease on a nice certified pre-owned Dell in a couple years. My buddy Dave works over at the dealership so I should be able to lock in a good rate. And hey, with their super lease-to-own options maybe I’ll be able to keep it at the end! That’d be nice you know… something to hand down to the kids when they’re old enough for their computing license. Fingers crossed! 🤞
- Comment on The making of Secret of Mana 2 months ago:
What I wouldn’t give for a “complete” Secret of Mana. Where they didn’t have to scrap a bunch of content to fit on a cart instead of a CD. Where everything from Pure Land forward wasn’t stripped down and rushed. I still love the game of course, but man what could have been!
- Comment on EA Announces No F1 26 Next Year, F1 25 Will Get a Major Expansion Instead 3 months ago:
2026 is a new regulations year for F1 so the cars are very different, racing rules are different, there’s even an 11th team joining the fray. Yearly sports game expansions instead of whole new games is the obvious choice but for F1 specifically, this seems like the worst possible year to switch?
- Comment on Years later, Arkane’s Dishonored is still a modern stealth classic 3 months ago:
Dude it’s a blast. When they came out I played through each Dishonored once slowly, methodically, and non-lethal. Then immediately started over and hauled ass just slaughtering anything that got in my way. Both ways are valid and so much fun!
- Comment on More than 1,200 games journalists have left the media in the last two years | VGC 4 months ago:
It would be nice if more people gave a shit about in depth reporting on the industry but it’s an ever-shrinking niche. I think that’s a problem with any “enthusiast press” though. The game industry is huge and has asinine amounts of cash sloshing around in it though, so maybe we just end up with a bigger gulf between sites regurgitating press releases and sites actually doing reporting?
Most importantly, it’s “press sneak fuck” thank you very much!

- Comment on Expedition 33 | Patch 1.4.0 Is Now Live 7 months ago:
Ah shit I was really hoping that was a documentation issue, not an implementation bug. Deep down I knew the truth. Autoplay Dialogue will soothe that pain though. I’m going through my first playthrough and having to manual “Next” all the dialogue is a bummer.
- Comment on Alabaster Dawn (CrossCode sequel) - Demo Release Date Trailer 7 months ago:
I am looking forward to this. It would be nice if their “Demo Release Date Trailer” had a date in it though, instead of just “September.”

- Comment on 'I can't drink the water' - life next to a US data centre 8 months ago:
“Our goal is that by 2030, we’ll be putting more water back into the watersheds and communities where we’re operating data centres, than we’re taking out,” says Will Hewes, global water stewardship lead at Amazon Web Services (AWS), which runs more data centres than any other company globally.
How can this possibly make sense? Mine owner says, “by 2030 we’ll be putting more gold into the ground than we’re taking out!” I can only assume this is some carbon credits style of nonsense.
