- Comment on Senate passes TikTok ban bill, sending it to Biden, who has already committed to signing it 6 months ago:
It won’t, but it will be sold, and the moderation and censorship practices will change.

Yeah I get it. But it could be so much more than that.
- Comment on Is TV Dead? Global TV Shipments Hit a Decade Low in 2023 8 months ago:
Most smart TVs have a dumb mode. As long as you can plug in anything you want you should be fine.
- Comment on Is TV Dead? Global TV Shipments Hit a Decade Low in 2023 8 months ago:
TVs are also a product that seems to last, at least on my experience.

Because it’s a large language model that parrots human information. Not particularly surprising.

- Comment on EU antitrust chief to Tim Cook: Apple must allow third-party app stores 10 months ago:
No one is forcing you to use another app store. I’m sure the operating system will also allow you to turn off apps from unknown sources just like Android. More options for other people is not a bad thing. People paid for the device, they should be able to use it however they wish.
- Comment on GM Says It's Ditching Apple CarPlay and Android Auto for Your Safety 11 months ago:
Knowing GM they will lobby to ban Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
- Comment on There’s a new iMessage for Android app — and it actually works 11 months ago:
I have to convince every one of my friends to switch because they all use SMS/iMessage. Outside of the US, you would have to convince every one of your friends to switch from WhatsApp.
- Comment on Asking ChatGPT to Repeat Words ‘Forever’ Is Now a Terms of Service Violation 11 months ago:
It’s kind of odd that they could just take random information from the internet without asking and are now treating it like a trade secret.
- Comment on Study finds that Chat GPT will cheat when given the opportunity and lie to cover it up later. 11 months ago:
It’s not doing anything other than predicting the next word. It reflects human data.
- Comment on DoorDash now warns you that your food might get cold if you don’t tip 1 year ago:
As a driver for one of these apps it’s more of a bid than a tip. People send me bids to deliver their food and I deliver to the highest bidder. It sucks because that’s not what a tip is supposed to be and the majority of the delivery fee doesn’t go to the driver. That’s why I don’t really order from these delivery apps myself anymore.
- Comment on Petition demands that Microsoft extends Windows 10 support 1 year ago:
Not everyone can. People should consider their needs but Windows has programs that professionals rely on.
- Comment on Petition demands that Microsoft extends Windows 10 support 1 year ago:
I do like Arch. I say the biggest problem I have with it is how basic it is out the box. I like that, but I sometimes find it challenging, especially toward the beginning, to find the package I’m missing to get a certain functionality.
- Comment on There once was a programmer 1 year ago:
I strongly advise not to do that. As others pointed out, it really is just predicting the next word. It is worth learning about how to problem solve and to recognize that the only way to become a better program is with practice. It’s better to get programming advice from real people online and read the documentations for the functions and languages you are trying to use.
- Comment on Some Walmart employees say customers are getting hostile at self-checkout — and they blame anti-theft tech 1 year ago:
I don’t know about you, but I get annoyed that I still can’t use NFC at checkout. It’s 2023, tap to pay has been around in the US since 2016 and much longer in Europe.
- Comment on YouTube TV, which costs $73 a month, agrees to end “$600 less than cable” ads 1 year ago:
One part of it is retransmission fees. Cable channels charge an arm and a leg because they can and broadcast OTA TV networks charge a fee as well even though their signal is free with an antenna. It just gets more and more expensive as a result as long as there are customers who can tolerate it.
- Comment on X rolls out new ad format that can't be reported, blocked 1 year ago:
The FTC would like to have a word. At least they have a spine.
