- Comment on [Tom Warren] The PS5 Pro still hasn’t sold out in the US or UK. Looks like the $700 price point will mean this console will be readily available this holiday 1 month ago:
PS5 pro is a waste of money, but also lots of people don’t want a PC to play games. Two things can be true at the same time!

Or better yet just don’t use a phone at all! Can’t make you unlock what you don’t have!

Not counsel, compel actually. But either way, definitely not console! Ha
- Comment on Don’t ever hand your phone to the cops 1 month ago:
Pro tip, if you suspect the police are going to take your phone, turn it off. As far as I am aware, finger print and face id do not work on initial startup and they can’t console you to enter your pin without a warrant.

- Comment on installing awnings? 3 months ago:
Can’t help you with awnings, but you should invest in some cellular shades for your windows. We have the same problem, the entire length of our house, with the rooms we spend the most time in, faces west and from about 1pm-740pm it gets uninterrupted full sun, and brother it is HOT. Even with regular blinds you can feel the temperature increase from one side of the house every step as you walk towards the other side.
Cellular shades are a GAME CHANGER. They fold up into basically nothing when not in use, and when you pull them down the heat stays out. It rules, and it’s a very affordable and easy to install fix while you build your awnings. You will not regret them.
- Comment on Elon Musk says SpaceX HQ officially moving to Texas, blames new CA trans student privacy law 4 months ago:
Unless I’m mistaken they’ve always been based in Texas. Like look at their corporate license, they’re incorporated in Texas. SpaceX isn’t moving shit, he’s just talking out his ass per usual.

Now pretend your electric blower is actually a super loud and inefficient two stroke motor.
The movement of air isn’t noisy, the motor is.

Meanwhile pirating content and streaming it has never been easier. Jellyfin and private trackers ftw
- Comment on Windows 10 reaches 70% market share as Windows 11 keeps declining 6 months ago:
I don’t think it would matter what it was, I’m not doing an entire OS reinstall to “upgrade” to an inferior experience. If it can’t apply the update itself, it’s not going on until it absolutely has to, and even then it’s looking more likely to be Linux next boot install.
- Comment on Windows 10 reaches 70% market share as Windows 11 keeps declining 6 months ago:
Mine can run it but requires reinstalling my entire OS because something in the bios wasn’t enabled before it was installed. I mean…okay that’s certainly a design choice but I’m 100% not doing that

- Comment on Roku OS home screen is getting video ads for the first time 6 months ago:
It blows my mind how slow mine is now. I don’t even use the UI really, I only switch between ps5 and my shield tv, but that switch takes SO LONG
- Comment on Despite Microsoft's push, Windows 11 and Edge see decreases in user share 7 months ago:
Not even just changed, they removed basic functionality. For example - you cannot put the task bar to the side of your screen any longer. Never mind the fact that monitors are widescreen. Never mind the fact that damn near every application has interaction at the bottom of the screen and it’s handy to be able to work freely without accidentally clicking something you didn’t mean to. Never mind that it’s been an option since windows 98. They just got rid of it. Only the bottom from now on.
- Comment on Lemmy.world seems to have banned the largest piracy community on Lemmy. 8 months ago:
Picking a better instance for your main is most advisable. Users can accept that the primary benefit of a free and open source federated service can also sometimes inconvenience them, or they cannot. Complaining about the core mechanic of the technology that literally cannot change is silly IMO. Corporate owned centralization leads to enshittification. Your account age indicates that you know that first hand.
- Comment on Lemmy.world seems to have banned the largest piracy community on Lemmy. 8 months ago:
Reddit syndrome still affects a lot of users here, who view having multiple accounts on different answers as an inconvenience instead of a feature of the platform design. The irony is that tons of users on Reddit had lots of accounts without batting an eye, but that extra step of having to lick a new instance is just SO complicated.

- Comment on Why is living with your parents considered a bad thing? 8 months ago:
Because the people at the top who greenlight everything are rich and think anyone that would live with their family past the age of 18 is a lazy shit stain. That’s the answer. It doesn’t matter if it doesn’t make a shred of sense, it’s just the truth.

They’rechoosing not to drive for the same reason they’re choosing to be more thrifty and choosing not to buy homes. See if you can find the common denominator.
- Comment on Own a Roku TV or streaming device? You're about to see a lot more ads on your home screen 9 months ago:
Oh I think mine is too old. Mine just had like a plus quadrant, power button and then there pre-programmed buttons that I’ve literally never used.
- Comment on Wayfair lays off 13% of its workforce weeks after telling employees to work harder 9 months ago:
We’re hitting the point where people are finding out just how shitty their stuff is because they’ve owned it a couple years.
I think this is the big thing. My (now) wife and I moved in together in summer 2019. We bought just about everything we needed on Wayfair. Coffee tables, book shelves, lamps, tons more.
We owned literally none of it by end of 2022.

How do you map the custom buttons? I’ve literally never used mine
- Comment on Own a Roku TV or streaming device? You're about to see a lot more ads on your home screen 9 months ago:
They’ve already been adding them to mine. My home screen inputs got smashed into one (because I don’t use any of the home screen apps, I only use the two HDMI inputs) so they could jam a bigger ad on the right, and then make suggested things some of the options. Like the last month or so it’s been wanting me to watch super girl or Wonder woman or some dumb shit.
My other personal favorite thing they do is that they load slowly so sometimes I’ll go to select an input and the cursor will jump to the wrong place because an ad loaded. Fun!
- Comment on How Disney and Warner Bros. Are Causing Internet Piracy to Boom | Platforms like Netflix, Hulu, and Disney+ were supposed to do away with pirated media. Instead, they may make them stronger than ever. 10 months ago:
I downloaded Matilda the other day. Yes the movie about a child that’s brilliant and might have super powers and the premise of the entire movie is basically Ha ha child abuse. It’s a movie I had not thought about in decades and on a whim wanted to watch for nostalgia. I checked all the streaming services I have. None of them had it. I checked TPB. I had it in 1080p in five minutes.
This is not an unusual story. I mean the Matilda part but I feel like this is the exact same story for nearly everyone pirating things more frequently.
- Comment on Microsoft is adding a new key to PC keyboards for the first time since 1994 10 months ago:
Thanks! How are open office apps these days? Now that Word/Excel is dog shit and subscription based, that’s the only windows only app I think I’d need. Even my recording and video editing apps supposedly run on Linux.
