Avelo made an interesting and rather emotional video on the subject.

Well, yeah, and testing would cut into profits and possibly / probably require culling, which would cut into profits even more.
God bless capitalism! 🫠

Here’s a reminder that clergy has never been legally required to report child abuse.
Just throwing that out there.
- Comment on ‘Huge’ proportion of mental health conditions in Australia found to be caused by childhood maltreatment 1 week ago:
Welp, apparently we need a study to back that up, because people can’t use their goddamn brains.

So I was once arguing with someone about single-parent households.
They brought up that having both parents in the home is the best option for the child. I argued that if one of the parents is abusive, it’s in the best interest of the child to have a single-parent household instead.
They then demanded studies/sources to back up my claim, and berated me when I answered “Are you demanding that I provide scientific proof that not having an abuser in the home is best for the child?”
I just… ugh…

Further studies legitimize claims made about these kinds of things.

TwoXChromosome is also dead. Witchy-type instances are abandoned, too. It’s so sad, because I’ve had the most lively and supportive conversations in those places.
There is a grave problem with the Lemmy ecosystem system if women do not feel safe / comfortable using it.
- Comment on Why are male social workers so different? 2 weeks ago:
Most of the female-centric Lemmy communities are now abandoned. I’m sure the hostility did not help that. Don’t blame them. I’d never suggest Lemmy as a space for women.
- Comment on Why are male social workers so different? 2 weeks ago:
Please be aware that Lemmy is extremely hostile and/or defensive towards female-centric issues or experiences, regardless of validity.

Oh dear…
Good to know, though. Thank you.

It seems to have more of an ink-like consistency more than it does oil.
Didn’t seem to stain, either. Comes up just fine with water + paper towel.

My friend is a technical writer and just lost her job because “chat GPT can do what you do!”
She then informed me that she knew 11 other people who got fired due to the same thing. And now those companies are realizing how badly they fucked up and are frantically trying to rehire.

I’m sure everybody could.
Weird thing to find out that not everyone feels, I guess.

Looking at my own face makes me uncomfortable, so I typically don’t look imto mirrors straight-on.

You get used to seeing yourself in a mirror.
You do?? 😦

I never stated my opinion on the matter. Just restating what a lawyer is saying about the ruling and why it went the way it did.
- Comment on The man who owes Nintendo $14m: Gary Bowser and gaming’s most infamous piracy case 3 months ago:
Here’s a fantastic video from an actual lawyer who talks about this case.
He implies that Bowser isn’t necessarily innocent, but he is probably the fall guy for a much larger operation.

- Comment on How have you personally found the Lemmy community compared to its competition and other social media? 4 months ago:
I think Lemmy is great, don’t get me wrong!
However, I have never quite seen such a depressing social media site in my life.
Maybe it’s just me, but I’ve found the majority of the humor here is tinged with poisoned irony, misery, and helpless sadness.
I understand the whole “if we don’t laugh over it, we’ll cry about it”–thing, but, man… I came for funny memes and found an ocean of sadness. Feels bad, man.
Not really a place to come to feel uplifted. Would love to see more wholly positive memes & interactions!
