-I got detention in high school after a teacher overheard a friend of mine asking me if we had homework and i said, “fuck if I know.” Worth it, lol. -I got fussed at working in retail if they heard me swear but never officially written up -at my first accounting job the controller screamed FUCK from inside her office once. Swearing was generally fine here -current job i said “fuck yeah” in a meeting with no consequence. Swearing is generally fine so long as it’s not within earshot of approximately 2 specific people.
I swear… a lot. All the time. I do attempt, at least, to be mindful of the when and where, which is working out for me so far.

I KNEW IT!!! The sun just…hurts. now. Regardless of latitude, direct sunlight deadass insta-sizzles my skin. Worth it though, my mental health is sorted. UV blocking activewear handles the rest.
- Comment on Does anyone here play Yu-Gi-Oh Master Duel? If so, do you know an easier way to build a deck? 2 months ago:
Back in high school, some of my friends halfass doodled the equivalent Yu-Gi-Oh cards on index cards, as actual card games were banned. It was hilarious. And effective.
- Comment on The interior of your house is hot, the exterior cool. What would the most efficient orientation be for a box fan? Pushing hot air out of a window or pulling cool air in through it? 4 months ago:
Well, the folks over at noctua have fan shenanigans down to a fine science, and since I have generally forgotten the last rabbit hole I went down, I’d say get two fans and have one blowing in and the other out, lol.

- Comment on Hose timer/valve that is on/off for specific time? 6 months ago:
Probably, yeah. The motion activation portion of the sprinkler takes two AA batteries, but with sufficient googling it’ll be off to the races with my soldering iron lol. Thanks for checking y’all.

That one has a max run time of 4 hours on.

It was standard for professional correspondence where I work, but then they took out the ruler function. Why they think mouse-drawn highlighting of text looks good, I’ll never know. I asked for lightshot.

It’s the first thing I do when I’m breaking in a new android device: aggressively force-training it to accept all my usual expletives.
- Comment on Are you prepared for the ramifications of windows 10 EoL? 6 months ago:
I’ve heard good things but haven’t looked into it yet. Thing is, I got so good at vba that I got a promotion out of it lmao. As archaic as it is, my work is essentially hardcoded in windows for the foreseeable future, so I have to be able to dick around in msoffice.

It’s my only hangup. I vba on the regular. Work forced win11 on me, but at home, once i can be assed, I’ll vm windows eventually and migrate completely, and scheme alternative languages for my spreadsheet wizardry lmao

Try to dial it a hair past “grotesquely miserable”, but not to “diabolically desperate.” Impossible goalposts amirite? Seriously though, hang in there. (I made a joke in the (regular triage) er once and had to leave because the nurse mistook my dark humor for something apparently serious)

You might have to game the system a little. Generally, make damn sure they can’t insinuate that you wish for harm to yourself [or others]. Bad behavioral health servicepeople cannot differentiate between mild ideation vs crisis. Fire them if they suck and ask to see someone else until you find the right one. And yes, you can fire them.

I find music and the outdoors do right by me. If you need tunes I’m sure myself and other lemmyfolk can hook you up with genres you like without helping corpo wallets. I’ll start: if you like industrial, check out The Birthday Massacre. Great Canadian band. I think their website has free downloads and they’ve got merch if you choose to support them.

- Comment on Gamecube is the most underrated console while it was in circulation. 10 months ago:
I love the small controllers. They’re so much easier on my joints than anything else, to the point where they’ve given me reaccessibility to my old games via emulator. Can’t do a button masher to save my life any more though.
I wonder, if you’re handy, perhaps you could gut one of the big ol’ XBOX controllers and do a frankenswap.

I’m on my 3rd dreamcast but it’s been fine for the last couple decades. My genesis, though, 1991 and still fine. Kicking myself actually, the cartridge port was feisty for EVER but i finally had the guts to really look in there and i tweezed out 30 years of fuzz that had felted down in it.

If it’s anything like my 2001, there will be. (It’s the damn horn. The relay. It’s wired in there with a bunch of other important shit, like cruise control. So, when i use the fob to lock the door, it doesn’t simply chirp, it wholeass honks. Any efforts and documentation to silence this feature have been a failure. So I unplugged one horn and tried again and found out there were two.) I’ve been tempted to run a separate wire from the battery to the horn but I’m still toying with a wiring diagram about it because if I’m gonna rig it, I’d prefer to do it correctly, and only once😂 Good luck with your mic, though.
- Comment on What is the average temperature of earth? 10 months ago:
After cruising the comments and reading your post twice I propose the following because I’m that asshole today:
Go by layer.
Okay, so, assload insta-death ballpark Celsius in the center, okay fine. Maybe median this one. Then, consider some other identifiable layer(s) between there & surface, with some more eyeballing. THEN, for good measure, as many surface temps you can get for sea/land/air if you have chosen the range to include atmosphere.
Report back. I’m half asleep and haven’t checked my work. Also. I only ever need half a reason to suggest implementing excel to assist in your calculations 😂 I’m so sorry
