This is what it takes to cool an economy. Better bankruptcies than widespread unemployment

That’s cool. Would it kill them to show us a graph of this though? I just want to see a graph
- Comment on linking communities 1 year ago:
It really should be proper fedi-etiquette for a community owner to seek out and link to similar communities in the side bar. Not sure why they don’t do that either.

What about using solar to pump water into a reservoir and then using that to run hydroelectric systems at night? Too inefficient?

Oh thanks. Glad I was misreading something.

Am I reading this right?
This source says we generate 4 trillion kilowatt hours annually, which is 40 million gigawatt hours.
The link in the post says we’re adding 48 gigawatts of renewables (56*86%) this year and taking away 14.5 gigawatts of fossil fuels.
That… seems like not enough

They also make windows tickers that say “in case of emergency we have xyz pets”. Good to stick one next to the front door.

I felt compelled to do more napkin math…
So the population of the EU is 448.4M, and there are 2,294 existing turbines in the EU. If one turbine powers 8,800 citizens, then we need 50,950 total. There are apparently 2.294 that exist so far, so we’re gonna need to build 48,661 more to get to full-wind power.
How fast can they build one?

I appreciate the idea but this is a little misleading. They chose to label transportation for farmers markets but not CSA boxes. There is obviously transportation involved in both.
They highlight delivery as a step in the food delivery service, but don’t label it similarly when the consumer goes to the store to pick it up. I might argue there’s efficiency in having one delivery driver vs everyone acting as their own delivery driver.
