- Comment on Even Apple finally admits that 8GB RAM isn't enough 4 months ago:
Its not underpowered for average users, but it’s not meant for professional uses beyond basic office work.
Similar to the mini they offer the Studio which doesn’t have a monitor built in www.apple.com/mac-mini/compare/?modelList=Mac-stu…
Then for the higher end uses they offer a more typical tower format www.apple.com/mac-pro/
- Comment on "PSN isn't supported in my country. What do I do?" Arrowhead CEO: "I don't know" 6 months ago:
The option to skip was there 20 minutes after launch until now.
It said required in the popup, but still had a skip button with no consequences.
- Comment on What do companies get out of rewards programs 6 months ago:
Good point. I believe they do generate a temporary virtual card number but I’m unsure if it removes all potentially identifying information from the transaction.

My friend group all use the same one though to pollute the data.
Use cash for this strategy. If you’re using credit or debit cards they can separate the data that way.
- Comment on Star Wars: Battlefront Classic Collection Launch Is a Disaster - IGN 8 months ago:
I want to blame the company but from their point of view this business model works so I understand why it keeps happening.
Steam refunds are great for situations like these but I doubt the average casual knows how easy it is. The other platforms are much stricter on refunds.
There’s also the culture shift of gamers defending broken releases with “at least they fixed it!” Or “they released a roadmap for future fixes” that encourages early releases.

It has been shown to be more profitable than higher priced ad-free tiers.

I’m bracing for a near future where premium “ad-free” goes away entirely and you have the choice between lots of ads for free and less ads for money.

Use Quality Profiles and default to a lower quality. You can set the profile for each item when adding it, or change it after the fact.
- Comment on How have you personally found the Lemmy community compared to its competition and other social media? 10 months ago:
Lots of actual calls for violence on here and people screaming nazi at anyone who casually disagrees with them.
Reporting the calls for actual IRL violence does nothing, mods don’t seem to respond or take action.
- Comment on The Day Before Servers Shutting Down Next Month, Leaving Game Active for Just 45 Days - IGN 10 months ago:
Nope, no Kickstarter or obvious public funding before the early access “release”.
There’s a chance some people weren’t able to get refunded but due to Steam’s refund policy I suspect most got their money back.
If it was always intended to be a total scam and never release they’d likely have used their own launcher to bypass the Steam revenue share and refund policy.
- Comment on The Day Before Servers Shutting Down Next Month, Leaving Game Active for Just 45 Days - IGN 10 months ago:
Due to the way Steam refunds work I feel this wasn’t their end goal unless they really didn’t think it through at all.
The theory i subscribe to is that they intended to release a “decent” game but had no experience or intent to make it themselves. The marketing hype machine was to build community hype, which would drive investor funding so they could pay for new talent or to just outsource most of the work. I’m guessing that either didn’t materialize or they mismanaged that plan.
- Comment on Discord is on a quest to become a better messaging app 11 months ago:
AGS took their working forums for Lost Ark and other games, deprecated them and turned them to read only and switched entirely to Discord.
The tin foil hat side of me says it’s so all the complaints stopped showing up in Search Engine results. Also no pesky archives or waybackmachine to properly inform customers.

- Comment on YouTube isn't happy you're using ad blockers — and it's doing something about it 1 year ago:
There were lots of quality YouTube creators before monetization.
Can’t we go back to that?
- Comment on YouTube isn't happy you're using ad blockers — and it's doing something about it 1 year ago:
The egregious amount and length of in-video sponsorships are why I cancelled YouTube premium.
Ad-free should mean ad-free.
- Comment on Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty Sales Breakdown - with PC making up a whopping 68% of units sold 1 year ago:
I stopped buying on GOG when they shifted their stance on DRM suddenly and allowed it into their store.
Have they changed stances in the last year or two? Maybe, but they already lost my trust with their initial responses.
- Comment on Are there any reputable independent gaming sites left? 1 year ago:
My suggestion for YouTube video reviews currently is ACG. He states that he buys every game he reviews and if the studio sends him a copy for free he gives a copy away to the community out of his own pocket to try and reduce the bias.
He also seems to do a good job of testing on a variety of difficulty levels and platforms.
- Comment on Are there any reputable independent gaming sites left? 1 year ago:
YongYea just reads reddit threads without providing any actual commentary or context of his own. He repeats himself until he crosses the video length threshold for monetization.
He also had a nasty case where rushed his Cyberpunk 2077 review to be one of the first to monetize, and then monetized his apology video where he stated he didn’t really play the game enough to review it. And he admits he “went way too easy on this game in a way that I wouldn’t have with other games or companies and the review shouldn’t be up”.

I also remember when I used to watch him before Final Fantasy 7 Remake came out and he acted like he was a longtime huge fan of the original game, but when he watched the ff7r trailer he seemed like he barely knew the basics.

Hold the parry button rather than clicking it quickly. When you first hold the parry button is when the window starts, and it lasts a few frames while held. This works for perfect guard as well.
You’ll still need to time it properly, but holding it longer should have a noticeable improvement in the consistency of your parries.
- Comment on Uber was supposed to help traffic. It didn’t. Robotaxis will be even worse 1 year ago:
This is how I remember it in the early days on the East Coast. Uber was pretty expensive and always a large black luxury car. The drivers were very professional too and dressed up.

There’s an intro skip plugin that I don’t use. I’ve heard it isn’t quite up to par with Plex yet though.

Music is handled well for me, I use an app called Finamp on my phone to stream remotely or downloady music to microsd.
