- Comment on A record 14,000+ games were released on Steam in 2023 10 months ago:
It is, by a significant amount. The switch has the most at over 4k, a bit more than the PS2 (which also had over 4k releases). The PS2 stat is pretty impressive though, cos they were all physical releases.

Nope. Scroll to the bottom where you’ll see when the page was last edited. Near the end of last year.

Think you might need to reread the comment you’ve replied to, they don’t say anything about China doing anything, in fact they make it clear that China can’t do it.

I dunno why everyone is defending the game. You don’t even need to. This award was determined by community votes.the community wanted this.

I’ve always said that ours (and yours, cos whilst our two nations comedy is different, there’s a shit load of overlap) is too subtle for text communication!
And yeah, fucking yanks online… I’ve had a few drinks and a little bit of weed, so excuse this rant, but yanks online are fucked. I’ve met plenty in Australia and on my travels (including when I travelled the US) in person. 99% of them were lovely and I could chat with them and have a beer. But online? They are fucked for the most part. And I know that’s a generalisation, and most of the online Americans are great, but those who aren’t? They are so bad that they ruin my opinion of the good ones so badly I don’t even remember the good interactions.

Heh, my ancestors were english people who migrated in the last 80yrs, I’m closer to being one of you than I am a convict. And since when has anything our two countries has done not been a competition? Kinda reinforces how tightly you poms all have those sticks up your arses when you can’t recognise an obvious joke.
- Comment on Moderna’s mRNA cancer vaccine works even better than thought 10 months ago:
Just on the rabies bit, there has been a couple of trials using mRNA vaccines on rabies. They’ve shown promise as they have been shown to be quite effective, and the current rabies vaccines we have are expensive and time consuming to make.
- Comment on xkcd #2875: 2024 10 months ago:
What the fuck would you poms know about it? Like in the cricket, Australia has you beat. You’ve had 6 since 2000, we’ve had 8.

Oh yeah, that line of reasoning you’re proposing has been done to death in the media etc. Hasn’t changed shit. Because reason hasn’t held any water in this particular case for a while now…

- Comment on AI-created “virtual influencers” are stealing business from humans 10 months ago:
I am a terrible watcher of wrestling. I’ll watch a show, then not watch one for two years. But I caught his SummerSlam match, and the kid can go. Like, he had all the fundamentals down. The whole going slow that takes forever for wreztlers to learn. He can sell moves with the best of em. His moves were super crisp. Calling the next sequence etc. Do I think he’s way overpaid? Yes. Do I hate that some internet guy is being made famous when they squander literal Olympic level wrestlers? Yes. But, I mean, he’s putting out good matches…
- Comment on AI-created “virtual influencers” are stealing business from humans 10 months ago:
No probably about it, he’s one of their top paid stars (although still a ways off of Roman reigns and Lesnar). Which is wild given he only wrestled 6 times this year. But he brings eyes to the product, so WWE have done the maths and deemed it to be worthwhile.
- Comment on Why Masimo thought it could take on Apple 10 months ago:
They don’t “just” wipe em clean. Yeah, me and you might think they do, but there’s a bunch of steps they have to perform. Because if they don’t, people literally die. And here’s a study that emphasizes that being a risk with such a innocuous device. I mean, the WHO guidelines for cleaning them are literally 10 steps long.
And as I was finding the who guidelines again, I found another article that states that oximeters should be disposable when more than one patient is hooked to a machine. Guarantee a field hospital doesn’t have dozens of those devices on hand, so we’re back to disposables anyway.
- Comment on Why Masimo thought it could take on Apple 10 months ago:
5,000 disposable items usually fit in a box. Wanna guess how big that autoclave you’d need would be? Cos there ain’t many pieces of medical equipment that you’re gonna get away with just chucking it in a bucket of cleaner for 15mins. Cos, ya know, the chance of a patient dying due to equipment that is dirty is pretty fucking high in most permanent hospitals, let alone in a literal jungle. So, yeah, you’re gonna need more than a bucket and a bottle of bleach.
Also, battlefield hospitals are generally well supplied. They might miss a shipment or two, but generally most will arrive. I mean, you have issues when a literal city is being besieged, but otherwise? They’ll be fine. Can’t really run an army without shit to patch up the inevitable bullet holes. Plus the patients need food and water too. All shit that ensures the mitary keeps their field hospitals as well supplied as they can.
- Comment on The Atlantic: Nobody Knows What’s Happening Online Anymore. Why you’ve probably never heard of the most popular Netflix show in the world. 10 months ago:
Where as I’m the converse, all I watch is tv these days. Will watch 10 movies a year, if that. I long the longer and stronger connection I can form with the characters over a tv season. And I did they can tell more elaborate stories with the longer time compared to a movie. Different strokes for different folks though.

- Comment on Yes, ‘Australian sushi’ exists. Get over it, argues Adam Liaw 11 months ago:
Sushi more refers to the vinegared rice in the dish. What we have here in Australia is actually made in Japan, but only really popular in certain parts of the country at certain festivals etc. They do make handrolls, but as you suggested, they are cut into pieces.
- Comment on San Francisco Streets are rough... 11 months ago:
Ah fuck. Why is it always people who I like who do dumb shit? Like, just be a normal person. That’s all you have to do. It’s not hard. Like 90% of us do it every day. Maybe it’s different for me. I have red hair. No matter how much money I have, my mates are always gonna hang a tonne of shit on my hair (I shave my head now, but the moment I go over a week without shaving instant copping shit, and even with it off, I have a giant red beard…). Keep me humble…

- Comment on [Louis Rossmann] Piracy is COMPLETELY justified: Louis tries NetFlix and remembers why 11 months ago:
Because we’ve been fighting off having conditions imposed on us for generations now. The us government tried to enforce conditions on the drinking of alcohol a while back. Didn’t go so well. Imposing restrictions in this regard has never worked. People have been trading copies for a very long time now. Hell, the BBC is calling for people to hand over their tapes of early doctor who episodes cos they have lost the originals, and those who have them are still wary of handing them over cos it goes against the very idea of why they made the copies in the first place. You’ll also find that most pirates are spending way above the norm for media they love. Myself, I pirate a shit load of music. My biggest expense after rent is music, 90% of that going to digital and physical copies (I’d love to spend more on gigs but I can only to go to so many in a week). I literally spend more on it than I do on food and utilities.
- Comment on We have had guns for 200 years but mass shootings only became common in the last 30. So what changed? 11 months ago:
At the risk of restarting a dead thread, you’re an idiot. We have issues with predators attacking livestock and pets here in Australia too. We still don’t just have guns sitting out ready to be used at a moment’s notice. Cos we’re sane. This was literally my job for 5yrs after I left university. We had a massive checklist of shit to get through before we even resorted to guns. Why? Because guns solve nothing and cause great harm to the community. There are so many management techniques you could employ before going all yippee kiyay with your guns. Guns should always be a last resort. Proper management not only protects you and your pets, it also helps the local ecosystem. I’m sorry you’re so narrow minded that you can’t see the forest for the trees. You’re all “I’ll protect mine at whatever cost”, which is the reason why America is so entrenched with guns and has the very real problems that they are facing every day with no reasonable resolution in sight.
- Comment on White AI faces judged human more often than actual human faces 11 months ago:
Yeah, and it was an ongoing issue with Reddit. Probably still is. Sure, small, niche subreddits that had active moderation were generally free of the scourge. But it was quite a common phenomenon across the site, in my experience.
- Comment on We have had guns for 200 years but mass shootings only became common in the last 30. So what changed? 1 year ago:
Yeah, this comment speaks volumes about who you are as a person. Normal people don’t indiscriminately kill wildlife…
- Comment on We have had guns for 200 years but mass shootings only became common in the last 30. So what changed? 1 year ago:
This may surprise you, but farmers, shepherds etc, all defended their animals just fine before the invention of guns. You’re also making a lot of assumptions about others. But I guess that’s okay in your mind cos it validates your fears. Maybe look into changing that.
And to be clear, I’m not anti gun. Like I said, I am near a handful of them. But your commenting on a 4 day old post the way you are just screams “please validate my tiny dick energy”…
- Comment on We have had guns for 200 years but mass shootings only became common in the last 30. So what changed? 1 year ago:
Australia has predators, you donkey. And let’s look at the rest of the world. They have farmers and bears and wolves too. Many of them lock away their guns. At the risk of repeating myself, there are other options besides guns for the very specific use case you provided. I know you just want to hear what you think is right, but you’re asking the wrong person if you think I’m gonna do that.
- Comment on We have had guns for 200 years but mass shootings only became common in the last 30. So what changed? 1 year ago:
Amazingly, our famers do just fine here in Australia without easy access to guns…
- Comment on We have had guns for 200 years but mass shootings only became common in the last 30. So what changed? 1 year ago:
Guns aren’t the only things that deter wolves and bears. Sure, they do a great job at it, but they aren’t the only tool you can employ.
