They have some chance if they wrote code to find a counterexample to some obscure math conjecture
- Comment on Why are people using the "þ" character? 2 days ago:
They are very susceptible to very specific type of poisoning as seen here, but not with that useless swap of characters

Maybe. I don’t know at which point all that extra processing stops being worth it.

They also want nuclear fusion reactors and there is none in the horizon after 50 years of research and development (even though many want to sell the idea that there are).
You can start preparing for post hypercomputation cryptography too if you believe your argument.

It’s not going to happen this century, probably never

Like allowing a federated system instead of a central one, not depending in external libraries and services, and so on. I bet there are many things that would actually improve the security instead of this that is more of a marketing point.

Lol, it shows the hype quantum computing has sold and how detached the public thought is about it from reality.
I’m friends with two quantum computing researchers and they are pretty sure quantum computing will never be a practical application because of how the noise and errors scale with the system size.
- Comment on Why Signal’s post-quantum makeover is an amazing engineering achievement 6 days ago:
Having in mind we are not even close to breaking classical cryptography with quantum computing I doubt this was their best investment of time

I’ve also seen people install reflective surfaces/paint right below them to improve efficiency, but I don’t know if that is useful now that modules are so cheap

Redshift comes from relative velocity (and other effects), not acceleration. Andromeda’s light is blueshifted as it’s moving towards us, but it’s not accelerating.

There are many: the dudes from Bunny Drop and Honey and Clover, which are the adoptive fathers of their love interest; the chiropractor from Ranma and the teacher from DDDD. Just some infamous ones.

Lol, it shows you don’t know how things really work. New bullshit cites old bullshit, it’s all a game of pretending. You can check the statistics of fraudulent papers and that is just takes into account the most obvious ones.
- Comment on Bluesky now platform of choice for science community 1 month ago:
That’s exactly the point. If you want to be a researcher right now you have to play their game. You have to publish papers even if you don’t have anything. So people publish bullshit, use chatGPT, force their name on papers they haven’t contributed and so on.
Meanwhile the science journals get paid by everyone and pay no one.

It certainly doesn’t work, that’s why there exists stuff like arXiv and SciHub

What do you mean? We understand them well enough that we can predict the gravitational waves of a black hole merger.

Unless you are in a vacuum chamber, then it makes you lighter. Also you would be dead.

Lol, you are a reactionary piece of shit.
Police go to pride because the neoliberal elite has deemed it profitable. A couple of decades ago they called them terrorist, the same way you do with environment and pro palestine activists.

That happened in Permutation City. The simulation could stop intermittently or go extremely slow and no one inside could notice.
- Comment on UwU brat mathematician behavior 3 months ago:
In the case of dx as an infinitesimal it makes sense. You are making a sum of all the values of the function in the integral range and multiplying with a constant dx.
- Comment on UwU brat mathematician behavior 3 months ago:
If you were using nonstandard analysis with dx an infinitesimal you could put it outside I guess. Maybe with differential forms too?

The vocabulary is part of the knowledge. The concept goes with the word, that’s how human brains understand stuff mostly.
You can click on the terms you don’t know to learn about them.

Because most of them have a core of metal or other high density material and a softer exterior. It’s like wrapping a brick in a couple of layers of bubble wrap and hitting someone if the face with it.

I’m European. I don’t eat soft bread. I think none of you have a sharp knife.
- Comment on [deleted] 5 months ago:
I never understood why people use serrated knives for bread, it gets crumbs everywhere. I use a sharp chef knife instead and it’s much cleaner. I use it for 95% of stuff, there’s no much need for any other.
