- Comment on YSK that Amazon has different prices for different people 3 weeks ago:
This is the answer. I wanted to buy a pole saw and kept seeing different prices just throughout the day and later I noticed that it was from different sellers
- Comment on YouTube Shorts can now run up to three minutes 5 weeks ago:
I need to find a way to block them on Invidious. Shorts just bloat up my Subscriptions page.
- Comment on "Would U.S. tech workers join a union?" survey average: 67% likely 1 month ago:
The union autoworkers get good benefits like overtime pay for work over 8 hours. Union working come in at 6, then take a fixed breakfast and lunch break and then leave at 2:30. Anything over that will need approval and overtime pay. I’m surprised Ford and Stellantis isn’t alongside with GM.
- Comment on Elon Musk’s X is now worth less than a quarter of its $44 billion purchase price 1 month ago:
While you are correct, that’s not the point of this article. It’s about how X lost value. Elon isn’t homeless, so yeah it’s still worth a lot of money.
- Comment on [Tom Warren] The PS5 Pro still hasn’t sold out in the US or UK. Looks like the $700 price point will mean this console will be readily available this holiday 1 month ago:
It definitely is. The PS6 is going to be around $1000. When the phone prices went up I started to change phones every 4 years instead of 2. And now I will get the Slim instead of the Pro, even though I always get the latest and greatest.
- Comment on If the Olympics and presidential elections only happen once every 4 years, why the hell are we not doing them on February 29th???? 1 month ago:
You have answered your own question.
- Comment on OceanGate’s ill-fated Titan sub relied on a hand-typed Excel spreadsheet 1 month ago:
Companies now prefer cloud storage because they will still have the data if they fire you as your access will be lost immediately. You could delete all local files and it will take lot of time and effort to recover it.
- Comment on Sony announces the PS5 Pro with a larger GPU, advanced ray tracing, and AI upscaling 2 months ago:
Laws aren’t going to help keep the price down which is also an issue apart from the digital ownership. It’s always cheaper to buy physical games as they go on sale. What’s stopping Sony from selling PS Exclusive for $100 only in their store?
Are we going to get restricted to only buying from Sony store or is Best Buy going to sell me a box with a digital code?
- Comment on Why are doctors so hands off and unhelpful in the USA? 2 months ago:
This is just over generalization of your experience.
A primary care doctor should ask questions like if you are stressed out as it affects your life but they are not going to have a long non-medical related conversation because you are no longer a kid and also they won’t remember you until you go back the next time so why waste time when they can see other patients, unless it’s a psychiatrist. The questionnaire they have has all the required medical questions.
Doctors aren’t out to get your money. You don’t even pay them directly. Blame the health insurance companies for that. If they did want to take your money wouldn’t they make you do more tests and take more of your money? There are a lot of ways to get your money apart from anesthesia.
Maybe there is a different medical reason but it is certainly not to just to make your pay for anesthesia. I’m not in a medical field so I can’t into those details. However, I had some oral surgery and I refused anesthesia as I could handle the pain and didn’t want to pay more money. The surgeon didn’t force it on me. I’m not sure where you live but I hadn’t heard that we are forced to take anesthesia when it might not be required as it is has its own risk. Why would the hospital risk that? Just to make more money when they can just order other non-risky expensive tests?

- Comment on Samsung TVs will get 7 years of updates, starting with 2023 models 2 months ago:
Wow that sucks. I’m sorry to hear about the issues you had. Looks like their quality has gone down. I think LG is the leading tv manufacturer now.
- Comment on Samsung TVs will get 7 years of updates, starting with 2023 models 2 months ago:
Which TV did you buy? I bought a KS8000 in 2016 and it never has any issues and I use an Apple TV with it. I’m surprised you are having so many issues with a top of the line TV.
- Comment on Google Wallet now works for California driver’s licenses 2 months ago:
It would be useful everywhere else, apart from when pulled over by a cop. Like at a bar, grocery / liquor store while buying drinks, airport security if TSA allows it and any store which needs your ID for pickup. No need to pull my ID out if I’m just going to pay with my phone.
- Comment on European iPhones are more fun now 2 months ago:
Not a good argument. This is like saying why do we need airbags because I have never used it. We need to have both the features, with water proofing being more critical.
- Comment on Peloton announces $95 “used equipment activation fee” 2 months ago:
Cradlewise. At least that is a one time $120 fee and you don’t need an additional app subscription to use it, for now. It might get worse as the first set of users are just starting to sell theirs, as it’s useless after 2 years.
For Pelaton, it’s reactivation fee + app subscription.
- Comment on Google kills Chromecast, replaces it with Apple TV and Roku Ultra competitor 2 months ago:
I don’t think anyone is saying that chromecast as a “functionality” is being killed. It’s not the same product, the new one is a set top box compared to the current dongle, with better specs and 3 times the price. People would buy multiple chromecast dongles to have it all around their house or to carry it when traveling. Now, many will not do it with this set top box.
They kept the same name and functionality but definitely “killed” the old product - chromecast dongle which everyone knows as chromecast.
- Comment on Google is discontinuing the Chromecast line 2 months ago:
But it went from a dongle to a set top box for more than 3 times the price. It’s not really the same device, just similar functionality.
- Comment on You might get a discount or free coffee but you’re also being played by the multi-billion dollar gamification industry. 2 months ago:
I got a watch band bought from Amazon for $10, as a Christmas gift. It was the wrong size so I ordered one from Aliexpress. The packaging and the sticker with Chinese lettering were exactly the same as the Amazon one and it was only about $1. Sure, the Amazon package came sooner but it was evident that it was the same product.
- Comment on People in San Francisco Are Mad That a New App Lets You Spy on Bars to See How Busy They Are 4 months ago:
So when is your Costco not busy? Genuine question as I have gone there mid-day during the week and it will still be pack. One day I went 30 min before close and the parking lot was still full.
- Comment on Ironing 4 months ago:
Take your clothes out of the washer immediately, untangle them if necessary, and put them in the dryer. Don’t just dump all the clothes from washer to dryer. Remove the clothes from the dryer as soon as it’s done while they’re still warm. Hang shirts on hangers and put away the pants. Lastly, only buy new shirts and pants that are iron-free.

My keyfob battery was dead and I couldn’t use the hidden keyhole to unlock it. I watched a video on YouTube but I still wasn’t able to make it work. It wasn’t an emergency but I would just break the glass if it was one.

Yes, that’s what I meant to say. Thank you for clarifying.
- Comment on Google's call-scanning AI could dial up censorship by default, privacy experts warn 5 months ago:
Don’t answer unknown numbers and let it ring all the way through. Eventually it stops. If you cut the call or answer it, they will know there is a human being on the other end.
If they are real they will leave you a voicemail. No need to sacrifice your children 😂
- Comment on Amazon Customer Service has become awful 5 months ago:
If you really want to pay them money, order it again and return the old items. There is an option to not request money.
Companies are not allowed to charge for items they already shipped correctly or incorrectly. Even if they could, I can’t imagine it being easy for anyone to just bill you money and mark the order as completed without shipping anything.
From the FTC website - “By law, companies can’t send unordered merchandise to you, then demand payment. That means you never have to pay for things you get but didn’t order. You also don’t need to return unordered merchandise. You’re legally entitled to keep it as a free gift.”
Since they issued the refund, you got unordered items. It’s a business write off as a loss to the seller or Amazon.
- Comment on Amazon Customer Service has become awful 5 months ago:
Amazon.com has 30 day free returns and no need to chat with anyone. We can just drop it off at a location with no packaging or printed label. Not sure if it’s different for .de or for businesses. I wouldn’t think it’s different for US business accounts in the US.
The article is long and confusing. Why are you creating a US based account from Germany. No company will allow that due to tax purposes, especially for businesses.

- Comment on More and more people are ditching carrier roaming in favor of travel eSIMs 7 months ago:
In some countries it’s not easy like walking in to a store and getting a prepaid card. You need to have an ID and a local address, probably to prevent bad events which use sims cards. A travel sim could be easier but more expensive.
eSIM is much easier and can be activated using an app.

I love Airalo. I have used it in 3 countries and works without any issue. I even use it in the US when I reach my data limit as I’m not on an unlimited plan.
