I think a similar thing happened between fanaticus.social and lemmy.world but I’m not sure what they did to fix it.
- Comment on Now that we're finally out of reddit, can we finally get different tag for NSFW and NSFL? 1 year ago:
Personally I’ve never liked the idea of NSFL. It just doesn’t feel like it has the eighth connotation, it’s wording feels like it’s meant to be a joke when it’s content is rarely funny. I think just using “Gore” or “Death” would be absolutely better.

Yeah sounds like a Purple Cow, I’d be all over that
- Comment on Some veteran YouTube staff think Shorts might ruin YouTube 1 year ago:
This is a problem with all of these Tik Tok clones (and even Tik Tok let’s you do it for some videos). It’d so annoying to be watching a 45 second reel but if I miss something, I have to watch the whole thing again
- Comment on It's not just you — no one is posting on social media anymore 1 year ago:
Well “entertaining” is subjective. If these people weren’t entertaining, they wouldn’t have so many followers.
There are absolutely a ton of people out there taking advantage of certain people and manipulating them as opposed to actually being entertaining, but that’s not an “influencer” problem, that’s just a people problem. That happens in every industry with human interaction.
Plenty of influencers just post content they think their followers will like and use that following to make money as well. And a lot of the time, their followers actually enjoy the things they advertise.
And the great thing is if you don’t like the concept, you can just not follow them.

Geez the pacing of the original is ridiculous. I could never sit through whole episodes of that lol. I might try out One Pace
- Comment on 'One Piece' review: Netflix does the impossible 1 year ago:
Definitely, but I’d be willing to bet a good chunk of those 1000 episodes could be cut without losing much of the plot.
- Comment on 'One Piece' review: Netflix does the impossible 1 year ago:
I’ve always been interested in One Piece but just can’t commit to that long of a show. I wonder if they plan to tell the story more succinctly (which might be difficult since my understanding is the story isn’t finished yet). If they do, I might check this out
- Comment on Image uploads are now disabled on lemm.ee due to malicious users 1 year ago:
I think this is a great move until we have something rock solid to prevent this. There are tons of image hosting sites you can use (most of which have the resources to already try to prevent this stuff) so it shouldn’t really cause much inconvenience.
- Comment on "Hide Post" feature is needed; Hide it as it no longer display in my feed. 1 year ago:
I use the Hide Read Posts feature through the app I use (Memmy) because the feature through Lemmy itself is really bad. It caused all sorts of issues for me, including the ones you listed.

I liked Mayim for Celebrity Jeopardy, but I am interested in seeing Ken’s interactions with the celebrities. I think his wit will make for a great show.

- Comment on Hexbear federation megathread 1 year ago:
Is your All really that clogged? I think I’ve blocked 2 or 3 Hexbear communities and now I can’t remember the last time I saw a hexbear post in All.
If it’s that harmful to your experience, I’m sure there are other instances that have already defederated. You could make an account there to start using and even switch back later once the ability to block instances has been added. The point of federation is you have the ability to curate your own experience and there’s less chance for a centralized force to curate your experience for you. Trying to get a large instance to defederate from an instance you disagree is you trying to curate the experience for thousands upon thousands of users.
Personally, I don’t think any instance should defederate from another instance unless the admins of that instance are supportive of hate speech or dangerous language. It seems from this post that the Hexbears admins not only don’t support it but are actively trying to curtail it. Defederating with them will just isolate them and make it easier for that vocal minority to gain control and keep it.
- Comment on Not able to see posts from the last few days on communities or my posts 1 year ago:
Weirdly enough, I’m seeing new posts on my Subscribed feed from all communities without issue but when I view the communities directly, only some of the recent posts show up. Like, I’ll see a post that is a couple hours old on my feed and then go to that community and look at New and it’ll show one or two recent posts but then everything will be from 7 days ago and the post o was just looking at isn’t there.
From other things I’ve seen on other instances, it seems to be a lemmy wide issue that they’re probably still sorting out. Just strange behavior.

To be fair, it would’ve been weirder if he spelled it right in one of the lines and not the rest
- Comment on ‘Jeopardy!’ to reuse questions, contestants for Season 40 amid writer’s strike 1 year ago:
This is part of the reasons behind unions. Unions won’t work with companies that use non-union members usually. So they could probably find new (worse) writers but then they’d likely have a hard time getting the old writers back even after the strike. If it was as simple as just hiring new people, union strikes would never work.

The movie About Time deals with this fact. It’s a great movie if you are ok with romcoms
