Its no longer a community, now its an entire instance. And boy does it show sometimes.
- Comment on Custom ROMs have had just about enough of being Android's second-class citizens 4 months ago:
Why is stuff like that included in a plan? As a European, I can’t even imagine paying extra for that. If I want to hotspot my data, my operator can kiss my ass and simply allow it, I’m paying for the data anyway.

I don’t know how much I’ll need it on a desktop that’s strictly used by me, but I see your point nevertheless. The fact that its turned on by default without user knowledge and that the key is not automatically safely accessible is… That is a whole other level of dogshit, that’s just insane honestly. I’d definitely save it to drive and a stick to be sure, that’s a good one.

I’m gonna upgrade my setup at some point, so thanks for this. I didn’t realize they had some bullshit like bitlocker in there, definitely going to disable that because I cannot lose some files.
- Comment on Has google stopped working for finding anything? 11 months ago:
I scrolled the comments and some comments are about some paid search engine, definitely seems suspicious and especially when OP didn’t give us any of his search parameters.
- Comment on Has google stopped working for finding anything? 11 months ago:
I tried " movie woman assassin cold war" and one of the first results was “Atomic Blonde”, which is what I was trying to get at. I then searched “movie two guys solve a murder comedy”, the first link was some IMDb list about comedy/murder films that also had a bunch of buddy cups cop films on it and number 19 on that list was “The Nice Guys”, which is what I was getting at. I would really want to know what this guy searched for because I refuse to believe he spent an hour searching and didn’t find it. I don’t remember the last time that happened to me honestly. Even the two times I tried just now were pretty generic (especially the second one) and yet I found them quickly.
- Comment on ‘Front page of the internet’: how social media’s biggest user protest rocked Reddit 11 months ago:
My most frequented community (/r/hockey) didn’t even try to move, so I have to stay because I love hockey and it’s the biggest community. But goddamn is Reddit filled with so much more dumb shit now, just all kinds of weird self posts, people asking if a free game is worth it, why X thing is happening (and it’s something they’re doing wrong) and so many subs have just turned into random people with default usernames posting about things because they don’t know how to Google it. It’s so much worse since the downturn and I hope the admins feel it.
- Comment on YouTube Says New 5-Second Video Load Delay Is Supposed to Punish Ad Blockers, Not Firefox Users 1 year ago:
It’s literally like that shit from Ready Player One where the guy suggests that you can fill up the VR screen with like 80% ads before the user gets sick from it. That’s what they are doing now, they will push ads until people either stop watching or not enough people subscribe to Premium. The fact that you can’t even skip ahead in a video without getting more ads, even if you just got the pre-roll ads. It’s completely unacceptable and I think that there should be laws that would prevent that type of consumer abuse.
- Comment on Tesla will sue you for $50,000 if you try to resell your Cybertruck in the first year 1 year ago:
One of the things they don’t allow is removing their logos and the ferrari name off the car, so I suppose adding a hook would be fine. I don’t know if those cars are built for it, but I do think they would allow it… Felt really stupid typing that, as if they need to “allow” anything on a car you would own.
- Comment on Tesla will sue you for $50,000 if you try to resell your Cybertruck in the first year 1 year ago:
While this is an asshole move, companies like Ferrari do stuff like this too. They, for example, do not allow certain modifications on their cars and if they find out that you have done them, they will ask you to restore those parts back to originals. It is unreal how much car companies try to get from us.
- Comment on X rolls out new ad format that can't be reported, blocked 1 year ago:
Using a platform where millions of others are as well is not the same supporting someone like that. Even the fucking US government is still on there, do you think those guys support fascism? You just keep sounding more and more like you just think its that easy, its just that easy, isn’t it? Everything is so simple to you.
- Comment on X rolls out new ad format that can't be reported, blocked 1 year ago:
You mean I am going to keep on using the only platform these journalists are on to keep up with hockey, the only sport I keep up with? Yeah and that has nothing to do with its owner. If these journalists moved elsewhere, of course I’d switch.
- Comment on X rolls out new ad format that can't be reported, blocked 1 year ago:
Again, information I cannot get otherwise. Its only on Twitter, nowhere else. Like if a tweet just said “Everyone from yesterday cleared waivers”, how would I even go about finding that information in such a simple format otherwise? Its just not possible and you assuming like it is just makes you look like you don’t know how the situation is. These journalists just simply have not moved away from Twitter.
- Comment on X rolls out new ad format that can't be reported, blocked 1 year ago:
Google what exactly? Specific contract details or bits from interviews which are, in many cases, posted behind paywalls (The Athletic) outside of the little bits that they put on Twitter? Literally just cannot get that information otherwise.
- Comment on X rolls out new ad format that can't be reported, blocked 1 year ago:
Literally cannot get hockey updates from any other platforms. Those journalists just simply have not moved to another platform.

I might have to check it out, thanks!
- Comment on Google Podcasts to shut down in 2024 with listeners migrated to YouTube Music 1 year ago:
Well fuck me, why? Why oh why? It’s such a clean and simple app, no weird shit and of course it gets axed. I think I may just stop listening to podcasts then, much easier than switching to an app I have no interest in.
- Comment on Bluesky sees record signups day after Musk says X will go paid-only 1 year ago:
Really liking Bluesky so far, hope it picks up some steam soon. It really is something special and way less confusing (at least for me) than Mastodon.
- Comment on The German Rhineland-Palatinate State Parliament has ditched X (Twitter) in favour of open-source decentralised Mastodon 1 year ago:
Well I finally did get an invite to Bluesky, so I’m using that… Just need it to open for more people, because shit is barren right now. Let’s hope either that or Mastodon blow up soon. I’ve really been enjoying Bluesky, the layout is so similar to Twitter.
- Comment on YouTube’s anti-ad blocking test gets even pushier with a new timer 1 year ago:
At least in the past, you couldn’t get banned from YouTube: They would instead lock your entire Google account and I personally would not be able to deal with that.
