- Comment on Disposable vapes to be banned in England and Wales from June 3 weeks ago:
I use a disposable vape now and I was adamant about not using one because of the wastefulness, until they banned flavored vape liquid in my state.
It started to get really hard to buy coils for my vape, because it became unprofitable for these companies to operate here, and then even harder to find the liquid I enjoy.
Non-disposable ones tend to be bulky too. Not to mention the maintenance is a huge pain in the ass. The non-disposable vapes tend to leak. Doesn’t matter which one you use. If you don’t prime the coil correctly they burn out in a few puffs, and you just wasted 5+ bucks on the coil you’ve been searching for. Coils only tend to last a few days to a week as well. So you’re always on this search to find coils. Also reusable ones only last for a few months to maybe a year anyway (if you’re lucky), then you have to spend 100+ on a new one.
Sure you could get the little pod ones but now you’re being wasteful because you can’t reuse those either, and break twice as fast.
Now I can buy 2 disposables that last a month, don’t leak, don’t take a lot of real estate in my pocket, are significantly cheaper, is easier to find, and the flavor is always consistent.
I would’ve been fine with my reusable one until they banned the products that allowed me to use it.
So yeah prohibition doesn’t work. You ban this people will just go back to smoking. Which is just as wasteful and way more toxic.
- Comment on US couple blocked from suing Uber after crash say daughter agreed to Uber Eats terms 1 month ago:
Unless the driver wasn’t insured properly, Taxis cover your bodily injuries in an accident. They should have no medical bills associated with it, and the article is kinda vague on that. If anything they should be taking this up with the insurance company. Unless the driver wasn’t insured properly, and Uber didn’t do their diligence then yeah it’s on Uber.
This seems like these people are trying to sue for more than that though?
Do i believe that Uber is being shady trying to pull some garbage about a separate TOS, yeah that’s shady. They should take it to the next level of appellate courts, which I believe would be the Supreme Court now.
Though this isn’t apples to apples of the Disney thing.

So they were in an Uber, and ordered food on Uber eats, then the Uber driver crashed? Did I read that right?
- Comment on California officials get aggressive on homelessness after Supreme Court ruling 2 months ago:
Maybe in large encampments but from my daily experience of watching a never ending battle from the police and a homeless spot they typically don’t do that. They just tell them to leave, but they just come back eventually.
Everyday I walk by a spot where homeless congregate. At the beginning of the week there a few rambling around. By EOW there are 30 just sleeping coming down from their high or smoking meth. The cops come, tell them to leave, then it starts all over again.
They aren’t exactly bothering anybody other than the smell and that the city has to power wash the parking structure on a weekly basis because they all piss and shit in it.
Look I care for these people, I’m not trying to sound all NIMBY here, but these are the type of people who don’t want help. They want to stay in their hole. The only assistance you can give these people other than abducting them and put them in a facility, is to tell them to leave and go to a shelter. Addiction is a mother fucker, and the only disease you can get yelled at for.

- Comment on Actors demand action over 'disgusting' video game sex scenes 2 months ago:
I agree. I typically skip sex scenes in movies. Those scenes very seldom add anything to the story imo.
Unless it makes sense. In “What Women Want” with Mel Gibson, I believe that is a great example of a sex scene adding to the movie. The whole premise is him reading women’s minds, so him having sex with Marisa Tomei and hearing their thoughts while in the act added to the premise.
So when I see a movie that is just like “hey these people are hot and we should film them go at it” is just boring imo.
- Comment on Justice Department considering push for historic break up of Google after landmark antitrust ruling: report 2 months ago:
No one reads the articles man. I won’t lie, I’m guilty of it, but it’s mainly cuz Im lazy and go to the comments hoping someone will give a synopsis.
- Comment on Some subreddits could be paywalled, hints Reddit CEO 3 months ago:
Never said it didn’t, but reddit is more left leaning than right as a whole.
Lemmy is just straight lefty though. I’m a liberal person so it doesn’t bother me other than it just being a massive circle jerk most of the time.
Look I understood that when I made that comment no one would like it, but it’s just the truth…
I’ve been here since the API garbage from reddit, and use it daily so I feel like I can make an honest assessment of my experience thus far.
I like it, its great. Better than reddit in a lot of ways. If someone is/was a heavy Reddit user I recommend it.
- Comment on Some subreddits could be paywalled, hints Reddit CEO 3 months ago:
Welcome to Lemmy! If you thought Reddit was left leaning, you’re in for a wild ride!
Also if you’re an American you probably shouldn’t be, because they automatically assume you’re from the Bible belt. They will simultaneously say they don’t care for American politics but then will always be talking about it.
Linux is the best OS just don’t get into it. You better be using firefox. All the niche subs you had on Reddit aren’t here, and you’ll more likely just be blocking communities instead of subbing to anything.
And no one reads the articles, way more than reddit imo
The comments are slightly more interesting though.
It’s not all that bad though, I’m being a little sarcastic, but only a little…

This is just my opinion but most comic book based games suck anyway.

Goddamnit, now I have to find all the people that I haven’t spoken to in over a decade and let them know I lost that game. Thanks, I really appreciate it.
- Comment on What game fits this? 9 months ago:
Rimworld is one of those games I’m addicted to for like 2 weeks non-stop.
Then once I have 30 colonists and they can’t even keep the floor clean cuz I have too many things going on, I’m done because i know I’ll never “finish” anything. Even though every time I start that game I tell myself I’ll finally build the spaceship this time.
- Comment on Poignant post on the state of things 9 months ago:
You failed at nothing friend. We were just getting on the same page, and giving two labels for the same thing.
- Comment on Poignant post on the state of things 9 months ago:
We are saying the same thing here man, you’re just not wanting to say commune because it’s too close to the word communism… When a commune doesn’t strictly mean a communist village.
The wikipedia you linked to even says that it’s a synonym for a commune.
Also being a tankie is way different than wanting more progressive legislation. Though I understand your point.
- Comment on Poignant post on the state of things 9 months ago:
So… A commune then… I’m sorry I’m not trying to troll you, but you quite literally are defining a commune.
- Comment on Poignant post on the state of things 9 months ago:
That sounds like a commune with extra steps.
- Comment on [deleted] 11 months ago:
So angry. So as you see fit my friend.
- Comment on [deleted] 11 months ago:
Start it at 11 minutes. Everything before that is just his opinions on why people don’t want to emulate games.
Not saying it’s a waste of time or anything, just if you already know the arguments then it’s unnecessary.

Get a jacket, get some Casey Jones, Have Heart, and early Refused (since you’re vegan) patches sewed on. Mohawk you’re hair, tattoo giant Xs on your hands, and go around picking fights with people who drink or do drugs.
Now you’re straightedge

Right like holy shit! I never even knew what the term tankie was till I came to Lemmy.
It’s like some people here want Stalin back in power, but for the whole world.
- Comment on Google Flat-Out Refuses to Bargain With Workers, Prompting YouTube Music Strike 1 year ago:
I was a “contractor” for JnJ. Which ok, is a different company but it’s the same premise. The reason they contract the work out is so they can avoid giving benefits and cut costs for an essential job. All so when something like this happens they can just pass the buck off to the contracting company saying it’s not their responsibility for the working conditions they set.

I’m not sure how you got that to work, but it’s not that easy for myself.
- Comment on Starfield, is it getting review bombed? 1 year ago:
Man some people just can’t be pleased. I’ve been playing the game all week, and it’s fantastic. It delivered exactly what I thought it was going to be.
Sure there are some bugs, and some complaints about a few minor things, but as a whole this game is spot on.
I’m just not sure what people are expecting. It’s Fallout/Skyrim in space, and it’s exactly what I thought it was going to be.
