Yes, you’re not a corporation, you’re an individual person. The difference is scale.

If they do feed the grid, they’ll probably get some credit back which ultimately lines their pockets instead of funding public infrastructure.
- Comment on Desalination system could produce freshwater that is cheaper than tap water 1 year ago:
Producing clean water is a multi-faceted problem, your locale may require a different or multiple different solutions.
Multiple solutions are often nice cause you don’t have to rely on a single solution if one goes down or has issues.
- Comment on Desalination system could produce freshwater that is cheaper than tap water 1 year ago:
What? No, my friend you misunderstand. Mass-production makes stuff affordable and scalable. Capitalism makes it so wealth is horded and only the rich get to decide what gets made. You vote with your dollar while a billionaire votes with theirs, guess who wins.
Mass-production is not a capitalism-exclusive unlock, it’s a dlc that can be redeemed in any economic system.

That… makes a lot of sense, I hadn’t considered that.
- Comment on Inside Intel's Chip Factory, I Saw the Future. It's Plain Old Glass 1 year ago:
That totally makes sense that they would need pure sand, idfk how to make that work. But if Intel needs rounded sand grains, then they need to find another way to erode sand into that shape cause ocean sand is quite unique from the billions of years it’s had to tumble in the ocean. Otherwise Intel will indeed be using ocean sand.
Also it occurred to me that making chips on glass could be more recyclable since glass is also recyclable. 🤔 Would be good if that happens!
- Comment on Inside Intel's Chip Factory, I Saw the Future. It's Plain Old Glass 1 year ago:
Sand is a non-renewable resource
Not all beaches are public, and not all are in America where there are laws that protect beaches.
- Comment on Inside Intel's Chip Factory, I Saw the Future. It's Plain Old Glass 1 year ago:
I just hope this doesn’t mean Big Tech is incentivized to buy up lots of beach sand from poor cities already dealing with hurricanes.
Beach sand, if you didn’t know, is an important barrier between the land and oceans and greatly affects the size of waves that come crashing into the coast. Big rocks and other substrates just don’t calm waves like ocean-eroded sand can.

It’s a fair question, and also this conversation leaves out the necessity of public transportation which would be a much better way to reduce pollution (which EV fans will often say is why you need an EV).

Ooooh I really hope they scam them out of their money. This would be a perfect opportunity to hook the NYPD on crypto too. /s
This can only end in more institutionalized racism and other forms of oppression by the NYPD.
- Comment on Apple announces iPhone 15 with USB-C, a camera upgrade, and the Dynamic Island 1 year ago:
No, i had watch a video showing it to figure out that it’s just the fancy way they make their UI of iOS use the camera cutout intentionally. It does dynamic stuff and makes it feel less like a static island. They’re really scraping the barrel with that one.

Hamas is less “attacking innocent civilians” and more doesn’t know where civilians will be since they are a poor and oppressed retaliation force. And the Iron Dome is pretty much impenetrable because Israel shoots anything down in their airspace.
There is a very important difference between aiming generally at the oppressive force which includes civilians who continue to replace Palestinians who’ve lived there for their whole lives and targeting civilians, children included. Palestine does the former, Israel does the latter.
Look, I don’t actually think I’m going to convince you of anything, but I hope it gives you pause at least.

I just meant siding with the people being forced out of their homes by Israel and placed under heavy surveillance while under constant threat of attack. I can’t blame them for wanting to fight back.

I don’t disagree with this. Far right radicalization is a huge problem.

Nah I’m with the other lemmy user, 50%, take it or increase it. And they should have a say on every project and be unionized. It’s time we stood up to the companies and business folks that seek to imprison people in their homeland.
And we should push for Land Back rather than trying to make the companies and business folks feel safe here.
