I’m playing the VR version of Myst. Also recently played the The Room VR. I don’t generally play VR games (partly because they don’t seem appealing to me, and partly because I can get nauseous surprisingly fast), but I really liked these. Looking forward to Riven next.
- Comment on Hollow Knight: Silksong Sparks Debate About Difficulty and Boss Runbacks 1 week ago:
I haven’t played this yet, so I don’t know anything about what difficulty settings it may or may not have But in general, I see difficulty settings as an accessibility feature.
I liked the way that Ender Magnolia did it, where, at a save point, you could adjust several settings to customize the difficulty. I was able to temporarily make it slightly easier just for a few bosses that I lost my patience for.

If you’re looking for scary games, Song of Horror was one of the more unnerving ones for me.

(On my wishlist for years)
Well now I don’t feel like playing it. - Comment on Weekly Recommendations Thread: What are you playing this week? 4 weeks ago:
I’ve been playing Virgo too. Surprisingly enjoyable for a game where literally all of the enemies are more likeable than the main character, but it’s also one of the few games that made me want to follow through on a second playthrough to get a different ending. Also I like the music.
- Comment on People who have been in meetings to determine back to in office policy. What was the discussion like? 1 month ago:
My company (small, < 50 people) basically did an informal survey and then CEO said that working from home is here to stay, with the option to work in the office whenever we want (and some do).

I guess that because the interior isn’t a vacuum, the slow-moving air molecules were able to dissipate heat.
- Comment on I'm setting up a Windows 11 laptop for my uncle. Is there a sneaky way to make it block right-wing bullshit websites? 1 month ago:
Yeah, I intended the question to come across as kind of a joke. My uncle doesn’t really spend time online, but he needed a computer to look for jobs. He is living in my basement though, so I do have some concern about what comes over our network. But I wasn’t planning to actually do anything beyond my typical pc setup.

I think it just takes up to a few hours for changes to propagate to all the DNS servers.

Same reason I’ve been on an emulation binge with NES-era games recently.

Shadow of the Colossus has been a long-time favorite of mine. I also liked Fatal Frame. I think I also remember enjoying Rule of Rose, but I have very little memory of that one. I just remember it was weird.

Actually I think I haven’t played that one yet.

Ah yeah I played Shadowrun as a kid. I think I might still have that cartridge somewhere.
Mr. Do doesn’t seem to be in my list of roms though. I may need look for that.

I strangely haven’t been in the mood recently to play anything other than emulated NES/SNES-era games. I’m open to recommedations (yes, I already played CronoTrigger).

Who the fuck has conversations about people’s attractiveness? That shit is boring.

I really enjoyed it. I think it was a bit easier but also improved in several ways.

I’ve been replaying Ender Lilies recently. Probably won’t play through the whole game again, but I was in the mood to see it again after playing Ender Magnolia.

What I fear more than the tech is the idea that when most jobs are replaced with it, people will still be expected to find work somehow.

Far Cry 3 was the game that got me to stop buying Ubisoft games. I enjoyed the game, but when someone invited me to an online match (something that almost never happened for me) I found that playing online required some U-Play account or whatever they called it, and it cost $10. I tried the free account code that came with the game, but my brother already used it. So at that point I was pissed. I didn’t play online often, but it would’ve been nice to play with one of the very few friends I had without being expected to pay more money for the game I already paid for.
Fuck Ubisoft. I hope that company burns.

La-Mulana would have to be one of my top picks. With the catchy music, the “fuck you” difficulty, and the classic adventure theme really makes it stand out in my mind.

It looks like there are a few games I was slightly interested in trying at some point, but not enough to buy them, but having so many together as a single purchase, I couldn’t resist. I even paid the default price of $20 instead of $10.
