- Comment on American tourists visiting the EU, what do you think of it? 2 months ago:
Europeans seem to be happier, healthier, and to have a generally better standard of living than Americans. Small towns in Europe have much more personality than US suburbs, which largely consist of strip mall after strip mall. Food in Europe is focused on quality, whereas in the US the focus is on quantity.

- Comment on McDonald's executives admit diners think prices are too high, say they're working to create value 3 months ago:
Have they considered making their food less shitty at the same price? The race to the bottom price-wise never ends well.
- Comment on Pfsense, Opensense and OpenWRT - what's the deal? 3 months ago:
The pfsense devs has acted like jackasses towards the opnsense gang.
And toward their users. Ask the wrong question on the pfSense subreddit or forum and expect to get lit up. The Opnsense community is much more helpful and inviting in my experience.
- Comment on This mini ITX board combines Alder Lake-N processor with 10 Gb and 2.5 GbE networking and up to 8 storage devices (2 x NVMe + 6 x SATA) - Liliputing 3 months ago:
Pretty killer specs on paper. In my experience, these AliExpress boards have a bunch of minor annoyances that add up. Examples of those annoyances from my experience include:
- a complete lack of support after the sale (you’ll never get a BIOS update, or if you do, you have to get it from some dodgy Chinese Dropbox-equivalent),
- a lack of 4-pin chassis fan headers,
- outdated SATA controllers that don’t let your computer reach higher C-states, and
- non-standard CPU coolers that you’ll never be able to replace if they fail.

I initially read that headline as “Butt Health Features in Trouble.”
I’ve been watching Ze Frank for too long.
- Comment on $200-ish laptop with a 386 and 8MB of RAM is a modern take on Windows 3.1 era 4 months ago:
At the same time, it forced me to learn. Nowadays, every game and app you’d want is a few clicks away, and most likely it’ll just work without having to think about IRQ settings or COM ports or whether there’s enough space on your 50 MB hard disk.

- Comment on Bitwarden has launched a new authenticator app 6 months ago:
You’re right, it does. This is a head-scratcher.
I guess they already had the TOTP code written, so creating a standalone app was trivial, but what’s the point?

Fantasy Zone, Alex Kidd in Miracle World, Hang On, Ghostbusters, and Ghost House. The Master System had some real bangers.
- Comment on Anybody have favorite Master System games? 7 months ago:
God, Ghostbusters. I never understood the map screen in that game, but it was so much fun to upgrade ECTO-1 and drive around catching ghosts.

You might be able to find an aftershave that matches your fragrance. Alternatively, there are heaps of unscented aftershave options out there.
- Comment on Jeff Bezos plays down AI dangers and says a trillion humans could live in huge cylindrical space stations 10 months ago:
I would love to see a trillion humans living in the solar system. If we had a trillion humans, we would have, at any given time, 1,000 Mozarts and 1,000 Einsteins.
So if one in a billion people are an Einstein or Mozart, does that mean there are 8 Mozarts and 8 Einsteins alive in the world right now? I wonder who would make the list?
- Comment on Nikki Haley vows to abolish anonymous social media accounts: 'It's a national security threat' 11 months ago:
I don’t disagree with you. But there’s also a flip side. Nazis and other bigots wouldn’t be so open in their bigotry, which could lead to them recruiting fewer people to their cause. Also, state actors such as Russia and China wouldn’t be able to sow mis- and disinformation so readily.
For the record, I believe Nikki’s plan is dumb and will never, ever happen. I’m just using my imagination to see some potential for benefits.
- Comment on Nikki Haley vows to abolish anonymous social media accounts: 'It's a national security threat' 11 months ago:
Unpopular opinion: internet discourse would be slightly more civil if people’s real names were attached to their Internet Hot Takes.
But yeah, have fun enforcing that, Nikki.

Someone is trying really hard to hurt Lemmy by continually attacking the most popular instance. Is this all coming from right-wingers upset that their nazi instances were defederated across basically the whole fediverse?

If you’re not, it’s the guy killing a million people a couple of iterations later
I feel like running over all those bodies would make the train come to a stop way before it ran over a million people.
Now I sit back and wait for some morbid soul who is better at math and physics than me to figure out the answer.
- Comment on If my deodorant doesn't work, should I use it more often or switch the brand? 1 year ago:
What do you mean by “doesn’t work”? Your pits still stink, or what?
Try different deodorants from different brands until you find one with ingredients that jive with your body’s chemistry.
