Ragnarok Online. Before the third jobs, and without donation items and high rates. I played on the kRO server for a while and afterwards for many years on a 5/5/3 private server. I still remember how it felt, the first time I played it. Never found anything like it again.
Now, I’ve played a lot of amazing games and some of them really hit me in the feels, but this was the first MMORPG I played, ever. I was like what, 15? when I started playing and I played this game with the same people, for years. In the same guild, over Ventrilo, I knew these people. From all over the world, we’d even set alarms and such to make sure people were there when WoE started and half of us were sleeping due to time zones, or to make sure we could keep the MVP boss schedules. Some of us even met in real life, we talked off-game as well. We grew up together, quite literally, from teenager to adult. It’s not surprising it left such a mark, I guess. Nowadays… well I’ve tried MMO’s but it just isn’t like that anymore.
I only have to listen to the soundtrack, music from Prontera or Amatsu, and boom, nostalgia!

F.E.A.R. has such good enemy AI. It’s an amazing shooter.
Still, I’ve only ever played it once, because I’m a big wuss and scary is not my thing, I just can’t do it again. Alma is fucking creepy and the entire atmosphere gives me nightmares.
But yeah, for anyone who enjoys shooters, F.E.A.R. is a great one.

Yeah seriously. Whenever I do a late or a night shift, this guy will think I’m a leeching immigrant. Or maybe he won’t, because my skin isn’t the right color for that?

I looked up Michaelmas because I had never heard of it. And it’s exactly what I initially thought it was: a celebration of the archangel.

You’re right, always good to have a buffer.

The load time on this is insane. But I got it signed! Not that it really helped much, both my own country and my country of residence had already reached the threshold.
But still, it’s about time for an EU-wide ban on this barbaric shit.

I agree.
Whenever I see discussions about Libertarians, I always think about that town, Grafton, that got overrun with libertarians. Human nature indeed.

In Dutch we have that saying too. “Blaffende honden bijten niet.” Barking dogs don’t bite.

I have always felt bad for ‘non-practicing’ pedophiles. It must be a horribly lonely thing to go through. Not only are you universally hated, but you have desires and longings you can -never- act on, a need that can -never- be fulfilled. Add to that the isolation… it must be hell. And all because of something they can’t change. And the worst thing about it is that the hatred is so understandable. Where someone’s kids are involved, of course they won’t take any risks. Of course they’re going to lash out at anything and anyone that might be dangerous. It’s a visceral thing.
But you’re right. This idea that every pedophile wants to rape kids is probably very damaging. Not just to the pedophiles themselves, but also the kids around them. When you push someone into a secret corner where they can’t talk to people about their issues, where they can’t be honest, can’t get help… you’ll only make sure that some of them don’t look for help, when they might have otherwise. Someone with nothing to lose is more dangerous than someone with some social net.
Maybe I would feel different if I had kids myself, but I have always approached it from a rational point of view. Does every heterosexual guy rape women? Does every heterosexual woman rape men? Does every gay man rape men? No, of course not. So why assume that every pedophile rapes children? I am no expert, but I assume there are way more people with these feelings than we would like to know. Luckily most humans have some sort of self-control.

Yup, I’ve had my Kobo for quite a while now and I still love it. The push buttons are great, as pointed out by another poster, but also… I’ve just never had any issues with it. None whatsoever. I’m hoping this one will just never brick.
About a month after I got mine, I bought the exact same one for my husband and he says his is still working like a charm as well! Now to be fair, I had never owned any other e-readers so I can’t really compare it to anything, but quality-wise I’d say they’re really good.
