Golgotha gave me glotrot. My own fault: I should have taken the ‘sore throat’ seriously. When I looked up what I’d have to do to cure it I just removed it with a wish command (in other words: I applied a cheat code). Wish I hadn’t though, because it felt like I tarnished my save

Been a while since I last played Qud but almost not a day goes by without me thinking I should play it again.
In roleplay mode though.
I don’t think I’d emotionally survive permadeath 20 hours into a run.
My longest save has 30 hours. Couple of deaths along the way. Nowhere near ready to cross to the eastern half of the map.
How anyone plays it as a classical roguelike is a mystery to me

This one has been sitting on my wishlist for some time. Great art style and, unlike Rimworld, there’s gamepad support, so I could play this on my Steam Deck. What makes me hesitate each time is that games like this can be really hard to return to after a break. I get the same with city builders. You invest hours into slowly building up this complex ‘machine’, take a break, and upon returning realize you’ve forgotten what your priorities were and mess everything up.

I wish I was brave enough to keep playing. Even at 720p docked on the Switch I was just too stressed out all the time. The low rendering distance didn’t help, I’ll admit. Beautiful world though
