- Comment on Selling BTC or not..? 1 week ago:
My advice would be to treat investing in unique assets - like shares in one company or Cryptos - as gambling: only put in what you’re willing to lose. Anything you can’t afford to lose should be saved or put into index funds with lower risk and volatility.
You just cannot know what an asset will do in 6 months. You can have a really good guess, but at the end of the day it’s still a guess. And that guessing is even more difficult when it’s a non-productive asset like Bitcoin, because then you’re just gambling on vibes. There isn’t much logic to Bitcoin’s price besides “what if” and FOMO.
So yes, if you can afford to lose the money, you can leave it in. But if that money going to zero overnight would impact your quality of life or ability to absorb unexpected expenditures, then liquidate.
And on a more personal note, you’re probably better off having the drone you want than flipping a (digital) coin and hoping it’s heads

I think the “high-speed” is the important part there. You have reduced speeds after the first 30Gb

- Comment on Plex is increasing Plex Pass prices and paywalling remote playback for personal media at $1.99/month or $19.99/year. 1 month ago:
I’ve found it hogs a bit of resources so I shut mine off until Plex crossed a line
Looks like that day came sooner than I expected
What run command did you use? Any resource constraints?

I have a friend who is just so damn stubborn when it comes to mixing up their “comfortable” things if they aren’t the one to come up with the idea
Very frustrating

Yes, I’m afraid so. Some of the concepts will still apply but it’s most likely wiser to get a EU-specifc or country-specific book if you can find one

Black and Decker makes a series of books that are pretty good, I’ve been enjoying them so far. Black & Decker The Complete Guide to Wiring
I’ve also found various books from thrift shops to supplement as well as various resources from the internet

That statement presumes knowledge of GFI that I did not have - load side means nothing to a layperson

I’m leaning the science behind home electricity. I want to install an outlet in my bathroom for a bidet but I realized I didn’t understand when and where I needed a GFI outlet. So I’m learning via a handful of books
Similarly, I want to add another outlet in the basement for my cats’ automatic litter box.
I also just replaced my Nest doorbell with a “dumb” doorbell but the chime won’t work. So I need to do some research on how the chimes work…

This is superb. My wife has been fediverse-curious ever since the election, and last night she created a Pixelfed account and was so disappointed her feed wasn’t immediately filled with cool stuff. I tried to explain some of the points in this guide but I don’t know if I did the most convincing job.
I’ll send this her way and see what she thinks
