- Comment on Pretty part of the week: Ruishen RSCM11548 3-winding common-mode choke 2 weeks ago:
A common mode choke is a passive electronic component that functions as a filter, blocking high-frequency noise that is “common” to multiple wires in a circuit while allowing the desired low-frequency signal to pass through, effectively suppressing electromagnetic interference (EMI) from unwanted radio signals or other sources within a system.
- Comment on Sid Meier's Civilization VII is Steam Deck Verified with the Linux version ahead of release on February 11 2 weeks ago:
I think the fact that its a native Linux version implies it doesn’t use it. Linux does not allow kernel level anticheat.

And with no Denuvo!? This definitely makes the Linux version superior to the Windows version.

I too feel bad for the few who see that this is a bad policy but what you’re suggesting is basically what they’re already doing and no matter what we call the fund it’s just going to be enabling poor policy makers to keep doing what they do.
- Comment on Ron DeSantis signs bill scrubbing ‘climate change’ from Florida state laws 8 months ago:
I’m actually for this. With their home insurance marked on the verge of collapse and thus their housing market, I kind of just want to watch it all burn at this point. I only ask that we withhold any federal aid and disaster relief when they get shit on by mother nature.

You can’t do this with student loan debt which seems incredibly dumb. I also don’t understand borrowing 100k for school.

- Comment on Apple Vision Pro Could Take Four Generations to Reach 'Ideal Form' 11 months ago:
I don’t think they had any other choice than to make the eye tracking great. They don’t make GPU hardware and the hardware they do make can’t possibly handle the processing power its resolution requires. Other headsets have understood this limitation and weren’t trying to design an OS. Again apple has no choice here. They don’t have desktop machines to provide input to the headset and they are way too far up their own ass to allow input from a PC.
- Comment on Apple Vision Pro Could Take Four Generations to Reach 'Ideal Form' 11 months ago:
I thought the same thing. Apple doesn’t make GPUs, VR gaming at the crazy resolution this headset uses is going to take a high end desktop GPU but Apple’s desktop line up also doesn’t have the GPU power it needs and also doesn’t support installing discrete GPUs. This headset has no possibility of being used on a PC so a lot of work went into finding ways to limit the GPU workload.
- Comment on Apple Vision Pro Could Take Four Generations to Reach 'Ideal Form' 11 months ago:
I think the marketing for this thing misleads people on the technical limitations.
- Comment on Apple Vision Pro Could Take Four Generations to Reach 'Ideal Form' 11 months ago:
I think if other companies threw price limitations out the window like apple did they could have easily made something similar. Also the fact that you still need another headset to play the best parts of what VR already has is ridiculous. It’s $3500 TV with no inputs.
- Comment on Riot Games Now Requires Kernel-Level Anti-Cheat Software for League of Legends, Following Valorant's Implementation 1 year ago:
This is dumb. Anyone installing this is giving absolute full control of their PC to riot and their Chinese owners. This level of control will do nothing to stop the most popular types of cheating from capture cards and AI. It’s a huge sacrifice with zero promise.
- Comment on Apple Vision Pro available in the U.S. on February 2 1 year ago:
The anti-consumer apple BS aside. The lack of PC support or support for any real GPU that has a chance at running Games in full resolution, makes this dean on arrival for most people using VR.

- Comment on The stainless steel body of Tesla's Cybertruck is reportedly leading to issues with gaps in between the panels 1 year ago:
I’ve worked with stainless steel (specifically 304, 430 and 401) for 15 years and the steel shouldn’t have a memory after being run through a de-coiling machine that is configured properly. Excessive heat in a focused area would definitely cause it to warp but this can usually be overcome by adding geometry to stiffen the parts.
- Comment on Car dealers say they can’t sell EVs, tell Biden to slow their rollout 1 year ago:
I agree that all of those things are improving but repairability or even the right to repair new electric vehicles is flaky at best and that’s my concern. I don’t want to own a vehicle that I’m unable to repair. Not to mention manufacturers locking features behind paywalls.
- Comment on Car dealers say they can’t sell EVs, tell Biden to slow their rollout 1 year ago:
I don’t think it’s unreasonable to expect 10+ years or more out of a car without shelling out a large sum of money for a battery swap. This is probably my only concern. Repairability and the cost of those repairs.
- Comment on Car dealers say they can’t sell EVs, tell Biden to slow their rollout 1 year ago:
Also maybe don’t make me buy a car through a dealership. Why can’t I just order and car and it gets delivered to my house instead of making me pick it up from a dealer that gets to charge whatever they want for being a middle man on top of the cars already being too expensive.
- Comment on The stainless steel body of Tesla's Cybertruck is reportedly leading to issues with gaps in between the panels 1 year ago:
Depending on the grade, the weight difference between stainless steel and carbon steel of the same thickness is not much of any at all.
- Comment on The stainless steel body of Tesla's Cybertruck is reportedly leading to issues with gaps in between the panels 1 year ago:
Not a Tesla fan but this article is garbage. Basically all sheet metal comes on coils “that resemble toilet paper” including the metal that other manufacturers use.
