Kinda wild given how the backlash to tariffs only started to escalate about 1/3 of the way into the month. Yeah, we’re pissed.

Property tax is the mechanism through which the taxes are gathered, but funding is through the province. This is very different than how allocation happens in most states, where schools are directly funded by their catchment area.

Yes and. How most of the US funds their school system is super fucked up. Here in Canada, primary education is paid for by the province, and school funding is based on student enrollment numbers. This translates to much more equal levels of education, regardless of how wealthy a given neighborhood may be. I was shocked to find out that schools are paid for by catchment area taxes in must of the states - it makes the history of redlining so obvious when the is literally a “wing side of the tracks”.

A 500t nuke could take out the white house, capitol hill and not too much fallout beyond.
- Comment on What would happen if USA invades Canada? 3 weeks ago:
Canada does not, but if the US wanted to unilaterally attack and occupy our land, there’s very good reason to believe we would look closely at all offers to move nukes from the EU, China, or Russia into Canada, and even potentially use them. We burned down the white house once - next time it might need to be the entirety of DC…

I hope the NATO push would be stronger than simple arms supplies, if nothing less based on the likely crumbling of the alliance. If it were to fall it’s very conceivable Canada would strike deals with the Chinese, or even Russia to maintain its independence. Protected guerrilla warfare regardless, which the USA does not have a great track record, especially considering it’s never tried it with as well armed and aligned nation as Canada.
- Comment on What would happen if USA invades Canada? 3 weeks ago:
It would be an invasion and occupation. Very very few Canadians would cooperate with the annexation, and more than likely it would look something more like Afghanistan or Ukraine, but with much better equipment being provided to resistance forces.

The swamp was actually the legal system preventing the corruption of politicians. How dare society prevent elected officials from taking bribes, manipulating the government to their advantage, or undermining democracy. /s

Beside each race portrait there is an expanded menu that shows what makes them happy. Referencing this menu is essential to ensure your workers don’t die or leave. I pretty much always get a lumber mill or carpenter asap to help speed up plank production too. Cloth and brick production are pretty essential too, but with planks alone you can at least get everyone housed in the large shelters.

How much “space” does one person, or even a family need? When you were in those cities, where did you stay? There is a big difference between visiting a downtown core and living in a near-to-downtown neighborhood. Still not everyone’s cup of tea, sure, but if we all lived in an acre property we would collectively go bankrupt from infrastructure costs alone.
