I see a future where all computing is done in the cloud and home computers are just dumb terminals. An incredibly depressing future. Customers not users is the goal.

Looks like it comes with more preinstalled applications and a custom themed gnome desktop. As far as I can find the extra preinstalled applications are available in the default ubuntu repos.

When was the last time you tried gimp? It inproved a lot when they made it a single window instead of the original insane multiwindow model. It’s probably not as well organized as PS but it’s really not as bad as you say IMO.
