My one deal breaker that keeps me on gmaps over Apple is the forced yelp integration. I refuse to install yelp and to get any meaningful information it tries to open the app.
Gmaps has a way better UX imo.

I don’t know if you’re joking or not so I will answer genuinely. It is used to circumvent censorship. Some platforms are strict with words. By obfuscating potentially black listed words it helps get the content past the filters.
