- Comment on Amazon BUSTED for Widespread Scheme to Inflate Prices Across the Economy— Amazon, its vendors, and competing retailers are price fixing, hiking up prices for consumer products 4 days ago:
That’s easy to take a noble stance when you can afford it. A lot of people rely on the cheapest prices just to get by.

Well I mean Fluxer is open source and have self hosting options on their roadmap. 🤷♂️
- Comment on Xbox chief Phil Spencer is leaving Microsoft 1 week ago:
That’s a nice opinion but Atari and 3DO were selling consoles at the same time PS1 was out. That makes them competitive, no matter how large the margin.
- Comment on Xbox chief Phil Spencer is leaving Microsoft 1 week ago:
Sega, 3DO, Atari just to name a few. Soon will be adding Microsoft to the list.

Not sure if joking so I will answer genuinely.
It’s a hand brake. You pull it towards you to engage it. It made loud clicks noises all the way. Then you pull it a little toward you and turn it down, pushing it all the way back in to disengage it.

10.0.0.1 is usually the gateway IP. Have you checked that there are no IP collisions happening?
- Comment on Discord Distances Itself From Age Verification Firm After Ties To Palantir’s Peter Thiel Surface 2 weeks ago:
This is a tangent but I hate that there is very little you can do when someone else actions your picture.
Case in point, I once had a co worker take a picture of me and then (without my consent or knowledge) uploaded it to an app that “ages” you to look older (like grandpa old). Then she shows me after the fact.
I had no control over her uploading my visage to one of those ai data gathering apps. I put effort into not willingly giving the powers that be more information for my profile/portfolio.
But you’re right, that even trying to mitigate all you can, they can still build your profile without any of your own input. Just by association.

Why the hell people keep saying Continuwity. I can’t find any software with that name. Do they mean Conduit? I’m so confused. The two words are nothing alike.

- Comment on 'What a great way to kill your community': Discord users are furious about its new age verification checks — and are now hunting for alternatives 2 weeks ago:
It’s not that they forget. It’s that 98% of its user base won’t care. They will just do whatever and continue on.
Too many companies have invested in discord being their point of contact.
It’s the same as windows 11 killing windows 10. Everyone just moved on.
Yes, you will have a few niche users quit, same as the few who moved from windows to Linux. But not any significant numbers to make any of these companies worry.

The user experience for matrix is absolutely dog shit. Anyone who says otherwise is huffing copium.
I have been setting up matrix servers and testing every desktop and mobile client. I cannot present this to my discord group as an alternative.
- Comment on Matrix messaging gaining ground in government IT 2 weeks ago:
I don’t understand the matrix hype. It has never worked for me. Every server is just perma loading / syncing. It’s so slow.

Let me know what you come up with. I have a server of about 600 that I’m about to just shut down if this process is invasive or privacy disrespectful.

From my experience, the average joe will just do whatever is asked of them to continue using a service.
