  Government financed IVF will not solve the birth decline, nor will a plethora of government carrots and incentives for short term fixes. Because Australia has a long tradition with immigration I don’t see low birth rates as a dire problem, it is bad news for older homogenous societies like Russia, China and Japan. What will be necessary though is a shift in our composition of tax policies and handouts. Much more tax collections will have to come from non personal income.

  I live in a small unit that had dusty ultra-compacted dirt around the house that was called a lawn. I broke the soil with a hoe, threw a few bags of soil mix down and planted some moss I harvested growing wild down the laneway. 2 years later the ground is mostly covered in a spongey moss. Give it a few more years it’ll be completely covered and thick.

  It requires virtually no mowing and needs little water. Apparently growing moss is even good for air and ground water purification. Not sure how much purifying it’s doing but it’s good to know I’m doing my little part.

  If you have a small yard, grow moss.

  Yep. I bet my landlord is barely, if it all, breaking even on yield. Whereas I’m sitting on my arse investing in ASX: VAS getting 12%.

  Why people go the lengths to get a loan, buy a flat, find a tenant, do all the maintenance and paperwork, all to get 0.1% yeild, and maybe an increase in value? I mean the last 30 years yes it would be wise, but you can’t just say it’ll be like that in the future.

  Also, if I need the equity, it’s liquid, unlike houses.

  Saying 80% of indigenous support the voice is the same as saying 70% of the general population support the voice. That is, that poll was done in January.

  This all seems so weak. You’re blaming the Yes campaign’s failures on Dutton. Just now you haven’t answered the queries he had repeatedly made, you’ve shot them down.

  I’ve been using an escooter to commute for the past past month and I love it. You don’t get tired or sweaty, and you can fold it up and charge it under your desk. Riden both, a bike is more comfortable, but ebikes still take up a bit of space if there isn’t a bike shed at work. I’m shocked that people drive their car and park in the city, every day.

  I think Albo screwed up. He’s called for a referendum on a vague agenda to win legacy votes, and it’s biting back in the arse. He along with Linda Burney completely understood that the No campaign is within it’s right to lie and lie on the pamphlet, and get scrutinised by critics who have an incentive for them to lose.

  Hanson is just doing Hanson things. It doesn’t matter if it is misleading, it doesn’t matter. I can see the Yes campaign losing badly, and the proponents in their confirmation biased bubble will be left soul-searching.
