Hello I am new, confused and excited about Lemmy! I like the vibes.
- Comment on Beware Hollywood’s digital demolition: it’s as if your favourite films and TV shows never existed 1 month ago:
I still have dvds and a dvd player like an old person for just this reason.
- Comment on If I don't lick my finger before sticking it in your ear, is it a dry bill? 4 months ago:
Yes
- Comment on Still trapped on Baltimore ship, months after bridge collapse 6 months ago:
I didn’t even think about that! If someone tried to keep me at work for months I’d be crawling through the ventilation system Bruce Willas Diehard style to escape.
- Comment on Still trapped on Baltimore ship, months after bridge collapse 6 months ago:
As far as I know, the crew did everything correctly, including alerting authorities to shut down traffic to the bridge. The one at fault here is the owner of the ship, who was deliberately forgoing repairs to squeeze out as much profit as possible.
- Comment on I this a firm and polite way to tell an opinionated coworker to stop pushing his agenda I don't care about? 6 months ago:
When poeple went on political rants at work I would say “let’s play a game. It’s called Don’t Talk Politics at Work. I’ll go first!” Then I would shut up, turn around and keep on working. Just replace politics with whatever. It’s low key funny with a deadpan delivery so I’ve never had anyone get mad at me for it.
- Comment on Mean world syndrome has reacted a fever pitch. 6 months ago:
Asking the real questions here.
- Comment on Yes, come eat 1.5 lbs of pie in a parking lot with randos 7 months ago:
I dunno this sounds like a good time to me. If eating Parking Lot Peanutbutter Pie is wrong, I don’t want to be right.
- Comment on Can you live a fulfilling life with autism? 8 months ago:
You can be a totally happy weirdo in the future for sure. I’m autistic as well, diagnosed as an adult. It might take you longer to find something you don’t mind doing for work, or to form lasting friendships, but it’s totally possible.
- Comment on Boeing: Last Week Tonight 8 months ago:
My uncle repaired airplanes for a living. I have never flown as an adult and I hopefully never will. Somethings I just can’t unlearn. When he first started things were great, but by the time he retired it was a shitshow of cutting corners on replacement parts and who knows what else.
- Comment on I'm a US citizen, people in other countries, what do you think when you read stories like these about the US health care system? 8 months ago:
It is the norm. I worked with a man who had seizeres and no health insurance. The first time he was introduced to me he said “Hi, I’m Tony. Listen, I have seizures. If I have one, DO NOT call an ambulance, no matter what. I can’t afford it.” He told us even if it looked like he was dying, to just let him go because he could never afford the bills if he lived.
This wasn’t some crappy part time job, this was my first big girl real job after graduating college. Like welcome to adulthood, you might have to helplessly watch your coworker die at you place of employment!
- Comment on Call me for all your home design needs. 9 months ago:
Who do you think installed the countertop?
- Comment on I'm never lonely cuz i got these little guys with me :) 9 months ago:
Visual snow. I have it to. Really sucks when I want to look at the stars.
- Comment on How will I find financial stability if I live in a third world country with a toxic sociopathic/narcissistic mother, I have no skills (at least I think so), no time and therefore no money? 10 months ago:
This is probably the best advice here. I’m rooting for you guys. Stay safe and do what you got to do.
- Comment on How will I find financial stability if I live in a third world country with a toxic sociopathic/narcissistic mother, I have no skills (at least I think so), no time and therefore no money? 10 months ago:
Unfortunately, I think your best move would be to flee the country by any means necessary. Do you have any relatives or friends who live abroad? Even if you are sleeping on a air mattress on someone’s living room floor, it would be an improvement. I do not think the conditions in your home country will improve anytime soon.
- Comment on Finally, an answer that makes sense. 11 months ago:
I re-watched this movie a month or so ago with some friends. We were bitterly cursing the cinematographer for making us look at Shatners stunt doubles butt for what felt like a minute straight.
- Comment on As a trans man, Max Simensen says he has unique insights everyone could learn from 11 months ago:
The part where the women was looking back over her shoulder at him and he turned around to check if someone was following them made me laugh.
- Comment on The chairs of Trek 11 months ago:
This is amazing
- Comment on What moment from a video game made you cry? 11 months ago:
Oh god I just finished this game and you are making me want to cry all over agian.
- Comment on What moment from a video game made you cry? 11 months ago:
The sequel was even more brutal. I cried like crazy at the end of both games. Like full on sobbing into a paper towel bc tissues weren’t going to cut crying.
- Comment on What's the best game you played this year (that didn't come out this year)? 1 year ago:
Me too! I’m playing it right now. I’ve been surprised how many times it’s made me laugh out loud. For such a bleak looking game it can be quite funny at times.
- Comment on Lemmy disproves the stereotype that Germans lack a sense of humor 1 year ago:
I keep clicking on those memes and laughing, and then having no idea why it was funny in the first place.
- Comment on [deleted] 1 year ago:
I was annoyed at first by all the Linux content, but honeslty I’ve kinda grown to like it. It feels strangely wholesome somehow.
- Comment on [deleted] 1 year ago:
Oh god that Lion King game. That wildebeest sequence was the first time I experienced tunnel vison. What the godamned fuck Disney?
- Comment on Redditor when women 1 year ago:
Checking in, am also women.
- Comment on [deleted] 1 year ago:
I feel the same way. In fact I haven’t painted anything in months. I do arylic realism, painting on canvas board. One of my artist friends was showing me images she made using AI and I was blown away and deeply saddened. This was good art, all at the click of a button. Why would poeple pay me money for art, when they can get it for free? Just spend three bucks to print it at Walmart.
- Comment on Sadly, even after Picard season 3 this mystery is still unsolved. 1 year ago:
I always kinda assumed he probably went back to live with some family members. I don’t think the Enterprise is gonna let a kid just live alone in his own apartment.
- Comment on You teleport into the last game world you played. What happens next? 1 year ago:
I’m playing Fea Farm so, farm, fish and hang out with my friends all day. Plus I have cute little fairy wings in that game. I’m set for life.
- Comment on Techies are paying $700 a month for tiny bed 'pods' in downtown San Francisco 1 year ago:
700$ a month!? I mean if this is what it takes to keep more people from slipping through the cracks into homelessness I’m all for it, but fuck the whole system that got us to this point.
- Comment on Is there a game that you've been very patient for, which turned out to be dissappointing when you finally started playing it? 1 year ago:
I really hate the perma death too. Graphics are great tho.
