They are using YT shorts. The next video auto populates with something the algorithm thinks you’ll watch for 15 seconds and it’s usually correct. Its like a slot machine. Quick and easy entertainment that people can lose hours in

I have absolutely no idea how this franchise went from an undercover investigation of a chop shop to driving cars into space
- Comment on Basically the plot of TNG 1 year ago:
This assumes Q was there to actually judge humanity and not begin a dialogue with Picard and the Federation. In his own omnipotent way. It’s not a judgement, it’s more of a test or like a training.

You are correct, unlike my autocorrect which decided it didn’t like the word ‘post’. Edited
- Comment on 'Oppenheimer' Surpasses 'Bohemian Rhapsody' Becomes Highest-Grossing Biopic of All-Time 1 year ago:
Not just Mercury’s story. All those times the movie had Mercury spiraling into sex and drugs and the movie versions of May and the rest of the group were cuddling with their wives and girlfriends. You know, the way they were famous for doing.
- Comment on Barbie (2023) OST streaming release discussion post 1 year ago:
Started this because I didn’t see it in theatres and can’t find the og discussion thread.
I finally watched Barbie after a full year of heavy PR campaigns to see the best movie of the year that was saving theatres and driving studios to go back to original IP for film ideas. And after all that my reaction is a solid…meh.
It was fine. I felt other movies have done the same themes but better and more cohesively. And I’m not sure what the final message of the movie even was. It felt like there was some boardroom interference in the final product because you could see the story aiming at something, then changing course before they got to a satisfying conclusion.
Acting and set design was good, it just overall felt like a miss that was made bigger by the giant campaign they launched to sell the movie as great.

This behaviour isn’t because he’s famous it’s because he’s incredibly wealthy and no one has ever told him no.
- Comment on US to argue Google abused power to monopolize internet search as antitrust trial begins 1 year ago:
DDG is my go-to, it’s normally good enough. Google used to be better at showing searches so I’d still go check out then if I couldn’t find something.
But since their ad strategy changed to favour paid suppliers and their servers are getting switched to handle heavier computing, Google is starting to suck now. So honestly its probable that you’ll need to work harder to find what you’re looking for regardless of which engine you use.
- Comment on Nanoparticles will change the world, but whether it's for the better depends on decisions made now 1 year ago:
We have had this same type of decision so many times in our history. Fossil fuels, antibiotics, plastics, AI. And we always have to learn too late that there were big, avoidable mistakes.
Might be better to just accept that and adapt to the fact that we are just horrible at making this type of choice.

- Comment on Scholz: Germany will be the first country in Europe to introduce a law requiring operators of 80% of all service stations to provide fast-charging options with at least 150 kilowatts for e-cars. 1 year ago:
They absolutely would be profitable, it’s just that those costs would then be passed on to the consumer. People would see energy costs skyrocket to make up the difference.
The oil companies still have a product most of the world needs and people will (and have) killed to get it. We’d rebel against a government they tried
In order to get passed oil we need to move to alternatives like EVs.
- Comment on Watching TV shows or movies that display Russia as a military superpower is almost surreal nowadays. 1 year ago:
It is wild to see this. It’s amazing how quickly things change.
Yeah, Russia was incredibly powerful in its heyday, both in global influence and military power. Think about how people are worried about climate change now, then double it. That was the threat of nuclear war that kept people awake at night for decades.
After the time of the collapse we found out how empty a lot of their power was. How much of their achievements were less an unstoppable train and more of a rocket that couldn’t be refueled. They had power but they never figured out how to make it sustainable.
