- Comment on Why did we give up on insulation? 10 months ago:
Not really true. UK definitely has a history of under-insulation compared to other European countries with similar climates (like Denmark for example).

They are grown people, they should take responsibility for their actions. The 2019 tory landslide speaks volumes.
- Comment on What happened to the flat earthers who demonstrated that the earth is round in the netfilx documentary ? 1 year ago:
There is not a lot to laugh about with flat earthers. The theory stems from Christian fundamentalism, and it is tightly connected to the christofascist movements trying to coup the USA at the moment.
And no, they are not going to give up their beliefs, because they didn’t come by them through rational thought, so rational thought isn’t going to disprove it for them.

I haven’t watched the video, but I suspect it aligns somewhat with my own experience. Online fps used to be my goto genre, but the competitiveness, toxicity and the widespread cheating made me realise that it stressed me out more than it entertained me. So I cut them off a couple of years ago in favour of single player games, often moddable single player games with good replayability like Kenshi or Stellaris (although I also like more linear games which just provides some good no frills entertainment).
It really has made a huge difference in how gaming functions for me. Much more relaxing and stress relieving, not to mention that I have more control over the amount I play, since I can always just save the game and turn it off without feeling I am missing out on something.
- Comment on What's the best game you played this year (that didn't come out this year)? 1 year ago:
Kenshi. Unlimited replayability and modability.

Or any chromium based browser for that matter.
- Comment on YouTube's ‘War’ on Adblockers Shows How Google Controls the Internet 1 year ago:
Firefox + ublock definitely works.
- Comment on YouTube is now fully blocking ad blockers around the world 1 year ago:
That is what google uses, after all they attempt to block your adblocker. You would need an ad blocker-blocker-blocker.
- Comment on YouTube is now fully blocking ad blockers around the world 1 year ago:
They don’t. In fact they get demonitised more and more easily for completely bullshit reasons. The majority of youtubers get paid through Patreon and in video sponsorship rather than from youtube itself.
- Comment on YouTube is now fully blocking ad blockers around the world 1 year ago:
They suffer voluntarily simply by choosing not to switch their browsers to non-chromium.
- Comment on YouTube is now fully blocking ad blockers around the world 1 year ago:
Those are also regulated in civilised countries.

I only had to do it once. Haven’t seen the pop up since.
- Comment on YouTube is now fully blocking ad blockers around the world 1 year ago:
I saw them, then I purged ublocks cache and updated and they have been gone ever since (also on firefox, because I switched as soon as I read the news that they would pull this stunt on all chromium browsers a year ago).
- Comment on YouTube is now fully blocking ad blockers around the world 1 year ago:
Nope. Non-premium here, and my ublock still works perfectly fine.
- Comment on YouTube is now fully blocking ad blockers around the world 1 year ago:
Purge cache and refresh does the trick if you have problems with the firefox+ublock combination. Or you have some other active extensions which prevents ublock from doing its thing.
- Comment on YouTube is now fully blocking ad blockers around the world 1 year ago:
It isn’t blocking my uBlock Origin on Firefox.

Get out of here with your nonsense strawman. I’m saying fascists and tolerating fascists is fascism. The absolute moronic take that “having an opinion and standing by it is based af” is what is creating the fascist safespace.
Having an opinion is not praiseworthy in itself, and not all opinions are equal.
- Comment on Where did the abbreviation "w/" for "with" come from? 1 year ago:
It may not make sense because English isn’t a language designed to make sense; it isn’t even designed.
To be fair, no living language is.
- Comment on We, The Based 1 year ago:
And this is how this community will turn into a fascist safespace, just like its reddit counterpart.

And the album was released in 1995, so lots of gen x would be in their late teens early twenties when it was released, prime audience for it.

I don’t. I just plug a pc directly to my tv.
- Comment on Is there any way I can stop seeing sports posts? 1 year ago:
I feel you. They got these bots posting results of games or whatever to each and every sports team community. But it is not one bot doing that, no that would be too easy because you could just block that, each and every sports team community got its own specifically named bot posting the exact same things.
Really messes a lot with the all/new feed.

- Comment on Well, it was nice while it lasted? 1 year ago:
It is a hope, but not one connected to any actual reality I fear.
There wasn’t any special clause about “more action movies” in the Miramax scenario, and also the movie market was vastly different in the 1990s compared to now. In the 1990s there was a lot more diversification of blockbuster genres, allowing for the particular type of blockbusters they managed to produce then, but that market is basically all gone now.

Hippies were a small minority. They were just covered a lot by the media, but people seem to forget that Nixon won his re-election by a landslide.
