You speak of copyright infringement. Some people call it IP theft but in reality it has nothing to do with stealing in the traditional sense of the word (such as stealing a bicycle). You can’t actually steal something that’s still there after you “take it.”

just the kind of person who enjoys being a contrarian
I thought the end was slightly passive aggressive. It wasn’t bad at all.
The other user did namecall first but I think we of the Linux community have to remember we used free software out of ethics. Things seem more rosy and user-friendly comparatively now but you have to remember the people who have the same ethics will “stick it out” regardless of the end user experience.

I thought your first post was slightly aggressive but this post goes too far. We should be preaching the ethics of free software first; while always remembering everyday ethics so we don’t end up as hypocrites.
From what I’m hearing, Microsoft wants to ban anti-cheat and plenty of other kernel-space software. They are possible security issues (along with all of Windows).

I own Temtem. I also love Dragon Quest and its side games. Pokemon was very inspired by those games.

We’re saltly because all of these rich people truly got to skirt copyright laws while regular people got in trouble for “digesting the same digital bits.” They even get to resell any work that has been processed and mixed with other works as long as it comes from their AI…
- Comment on Nintendo filed a lawsuit against Pocketpair, Inc. 1 month ago:
If Temtem is a Pokemon ripoff then Pokemon is a Dragon Quest V ripoff. All these games involve collecting monsters through battle. Can anyone really patent “monster catching RPG?”

Wasn’t USB4 based on Thunderbolt 3?
- Comment on Some basic info about USB 2 months ago:
To be fair, the goal is the same.
- Not everyone needs the sheer CPU, power, and costs of a 40 GB/s connection.
- Higher wattage chargers cost more
- Not everyone needs a USB port that does video out (even if it should be standard now that virtually every new GPU should be compatible)
- Even if the CPU and GPU support a feature, the OEM can use a cheaper controller
- The controller firmware can lack support for a feature or be buggy
The USB forum can only solve points 4 and 5 without raising costs on the cheapest hardware.

I heard that too but you can’t thwart something that isn’t being planned. There’s pretty much no info on this administration trying to get Israel out of Gaza.

I agree. Someone already put links showing how bad Jobs and Gates were earlier in this thread.

You haven’t named a decent person in your post.
The Google founders are simply more secretive in their lifestyles compared to Musk. They dropped the “Don’t Be Evil” motto a long time ago.

I haven’t even heard of a ceasefire. Trump is just trying to get Israeli support since even American fascists are on to his nonsense.

Your phone could have been switching power profiles incorrectly due to your phone rapidly switching between charging and not charging (and perhaps with a low power state depending on battery level).

No company owns every single Lemmy instance. That’s the only guarantee you are getting; however, that’s where all of the tiny differences come from.

Yes, same idea. Though, I thought we were way past this when it comes to modern cars.
- Comment on Hyundai and Kia car thefts fall sharply after software upgrade, study finds 3 months ago:
To be fair, they add another minute or two to the time it takes to steal the car.
I also feel these bars make your car harder to steal than the other car on the same block. If everyone is using them, you’re car is again only as hard to steal as that other car on the block. This could make it a target again.
However, that update or a third party solution is going to do a whole lot more.
- Comment on Hyundai and Kia car thefts fall sharply after software upgrade, study finds 3 months ago:
I’m not buying this PR garbage. KIA and Hyundai thefts fall as cars lacking basic security hardware were stolen and wrecked until there are no more to steal and wreck.
Thank you for re-adding late 20th century tech to your 21st century cars. /s

The moment Arm decided it should follow the Huawei ban, China started to invest in their own silicon at a staggering rate. After all, Apple already proved you can start a CPU design from scratch and be fine while Risc-V already offered a royalty free architecture to base their work off.
I know GamersNexus has also covered Chinese CPUs based on x86. I forget the details, maybe AMD let them license their IP?

Emulation Station is such a better way to launch games compared to RetroArch. I didn’t know it got an Android port, thank you. Is there something like emudeck on Android to even make the process even more easier?

Are you trying to use your gamepad as a second screen while you emulate Wii U games on your PC? Unfortunately, I don’t think that has been done yet. I believe the gamepad uses Wifi to send video to the gamepad and no one has made PC software to handle that yet (to my knowledge).
I had heard of people using the Gamepad to mirror the game playing on their PC.

If you are trying to use your gamepad as a second monitor for Wii U games you would probably have better luck getting a Steamdeck (Youtube link may contain helpful comments).
I sold my Wii U already so I don’t think I can be of actual help to you.
- Comment on It's honestly good advice, but I much prefer original hardware when possible. 3 months ago:
I would try RetroArch personally. It’s more complicated to set up (due to it being a mult-system emulator) but the pay off is worth it.

This is fantastic. Hopefully, crazy politics will at least have a side effect of all of this self hosted software becoming easier. It’s gotten to the point where companies like Hetzner will maintain nextcloud services for a monthly fee but Caddy is already more intuitive compared to what came before it.
- Comment on How the American war on porn could change the way you use the internet 3 months ago:
Yeah, that could work; however, it would be a hassle. Just remember to save everything important locally.
