- Comment on Are illegal streaming sites really getting shut down a lot lately or has it always been like this? 3 days ago:
Wow I completely forgot about Grooveshark. I used to use it a lot
- Comment on Study confirms Egyptians drank hallucinogenic cocktails in ancient rituals 3 days ago:
I want to read some ancient Egyptian trip reports
- Comment on Why do cell phones have a data limit but home internet doesn't? 3 weeks ago:
Where even has that sort of plan anymore? Are you really rural American?
- Comment on How do decide what language you speak living on a countries border. 1 month ago:
I live in Ottawa, ON, Canada which has Gatineau, Québec on the other side of the river. A lot of people here are bilingual and will just switch to whatever language works better for the person they’re talking to. The default language on the Québec side is French and the default on the Ontario side is English
- Comment on What games popularized certain mechanics? 2 months ago:
I miss MC Hunger Games servers. Are any still around?
- Comment on The Steam Summer Sale is live now! 4 months ago:
The second KCD is coming out later this year too so nows the time to try it!
- Comment on Elden Ring is "the limit" for From Software project scale, says Miyazaki - multiple, "smaller" games may be the "next stage" 4 months ago:
That sounds good to me, especially if they go back to Dark Souls style world design. I love Elden Ring but the size of the world made it feel sort of empty at times
- Comment on Common printing questions 4 months ago:
Ok but why isn’t it smooth 😅? My layers look like that but I kind of just accepted it as I have a cheap printer
- Comment on xkcd #2915: Eclipse Clouds 7 months ago:
Niagara falls in Canada already declared a state of emergency and Kingston is expecting to see 3x the normal population visit during the eclipse. It’s going to be absolutely nuts and I feel for anyone living in a city like that.
- Comment on Say Hello to Biodegradable Microplastics 7 months ago:
As much as I would love that, companies won’t do it unless there’s a cost efficient, easy alternative.
Don’t let perfect be the enemy of good, etc
- Comment on Say Hello to Biodegradable Microplastics 8 months ago:
How about no?
I’m not really sure what you’re suggesting. This is apparently plant based so I don’t really see the harm. We should definitely clean up what we have already but not sure what’s wrong with trying to find an alternative to avoid dumping anymore microplastics
- Comment on Hasbro exec says Baldur's Gate 3 "proved for us that people really wanted great D&D games," supports Larian's plan to "take the time we need" 8 months ago:
I read it this way as well. Even if I didn’t trust Larian as a company (I do), it’s pretty clear that taking the time to make a high quality product worked out really well for them.
- Comment on The Steam Spring Sale is now in full swing 8 months ago:
Agreed. Also a good time to buy it. Act 3 was so buggy on release but they’ve been shooting out patches non stop for the last year almost
- Comment on PS2 emulator AetherSX2 removed from Google Play Store 8 months ago:
Open source devs have to deal with the most entitled, messed up people, I swear
- Comment on PS2 emulator AetherSX2 removed from Google Play Store 8 months ago:
Was surprised at this since it’s not related to Nintendo in any way, but it turns out it’s not actually related to the Yuzu news:
This doesn’t come as a surprise for many, though, as the AetherSX2 emulator halted development entirely back in 2023, with the developer specifically mentioning the “neverending impersonating, complaints, demands, and now death threats”. Although, it took almost a year for the actual emulator app to be taken down from the Play Store, following the discontinuation of the project
- Comment on is this copium or hopium or schizophrenia? 8 months ago:
It’s probably cocaine
- Comment on To the top 1% truly smart people the other 99% are dumb as a box of rocks. But exactly how fucking stupid is that 99% ? 8 months ago:
Same here. I absolutely dread the days where I need to touch my companies infrastructure repo. A simple infra chsnge turns into a week of pain for me
- Comment on Lemmy Active Users looking good 8 months ago:
Yeah that’s me. I signed up for and used beehaw for a month before switching to my current lemmy.ca. My old account would definitely be counted the same way as someone who signed up, got bored and left
- Comment on Reddit started doing what they always wanted to do, sell user content to AI. 8 months ago:
At that point, they were also open source which was super cool. I always wanted that profile badge you got for submitting a merged PR.
Reddit really went downhill fast after ~2015. I think Lemmy will get there eventually. I remember reddit being a lot smaller back then as well. It took a while to get to the point where niche communities could thrive and I do believe we’ll see that happen here as well (even if it takes a decade or so)
- Comment on Sony misses PS5 sales target as console enters ‘latter stage of its life cycle’ 9 months ago:
Demon Souls, Bloodborne and Last of Us (before it came to PC) for me. I use my PC connected to my TV 90% of the time but the monthly games with a PS subscription are pretty nice
- Comment on Is it Possible for a 55inch LED TV to Run on Only 50W or am I Being Scammed? 9 months ago:
Mine does the same but it says I’ll strain my eyes lol

Sun news in Canada is generally very right wing. I’m surprised they’re even acknowledging climate change here

Glad it’s working for you! :)
- Comment on Why Everyone Should Still Use an RSS Reader in 2024 9 months ago:
I’ve had issues occasionally but if you use old reddit it seems to always work. Like old.reddit.com/r/example.rss
- Comment on Why Everyone Should Still Use an RSS Reader in 2024 9 months ago:
I use an RSS reader but I’m just using it as a clunky reddit client for my city’s subreddit 😅
- Comment on Gen Z is choosing not to drive 9 months ago:
I had no idea BYID cards were a thing. That’s interesting though
- Comment on Gen Z is choosing not to drive 9 months ago:
Do you not have ID cards in your country? In Canada we have ID cards and drivers licenses that are exactly the same minus one letting you drive
- Comment on ifn't 9 months ago:
At one of my first jobs, I was tasked to rewrite a bunch of legacy Perl scripts in Python and the unless lines always made me trip up. I don’t know why but it really messed with my mental flow when reading Perl code
- Comment on DO NOT MERGE 9 months ago:
I do this often. It’s useful if you want to send it to your coworker for some early feedback or as others have said, have the CI run
