i really just want to have a decent gaming machine and something that can run ai models bigger than 4b.
this is a serious and realistic situation many find themselves in right now. should i commit to 250% above msrp? or make do with what i have?

Sanctus@anarchist.nexus 1 hour ago The time to grit your teeth and pull the trigger was last December at the latest. Now you’re for sure losing a limb or two. But yeah, its not going to get better next year its gonna get worse so.
What about a 4000 series or even a 3000 series with similar performance but older features? Looks like you could save 2-300$ going that way.
How about looking in the used market? 4070 or even 3080? Or some nice amd gpus too, I got a 6900xt for like 400 bucks a year ago

I would use whatever I have already. Current prices are insane. No one should pay such money for a video card unless their very life depends on it.
