They switched from the console itself being a loss leader like they did in previous generations to actually trying to profit off of them. Because they decided selling games and online subscription to use them isn’t enough anymore.
So yes, the PS6 will be just as bad, if not worse. Look at prices of PS5’s right now. I know it’s because of the ai bubble, but we don’t know how long it’s going to last.
Also the “easy” major gains in performance are gone. Making computers faster used to be a manufacturing problem, now it’s a physics problem. Don’t expect major gains per die size or power consumption anytime soon. The next gen will obviously be faster than the current gen, but I’d expect an even smaller generational leap than from ps4 to ps5, and that additional performance won’t be free.
Increased prices for digital games, loss of backwards compatibility and PlayStation Plus In coming.
